PQ in the Ottawa game was very good tonight, colours were less dull and the image was nice and sharp, more like NBC's coverage.
As you're suggesting NBC's coverage has the best PQ in MHO.

Any possibility that the lighting in the JL areana has anything to do with it?

No. NBC's coverage has been consistently first rate from a technical perspective. Excellent PQ and sound with good camera work and solid angles.

Not to mention better play by play. Emrick and Cuthbert are infinitely superior to Hughson and better than Cole (although his great voice does make up for a lot of mistakes). The rest of the NBC team is pretty good both colour and studio. Almost as good as TSN (obviously some overlap with Cuthbert and Maguire) but better than CBC's top crews.

A little birdie told me:

Premiere the west truck was hit by someone running a red light. It was going to go back and forth between Vancouver & Anaheim.

From what i understand, its being repaired and should be ready for the west finals to go between both cities.

If Premiere is in the shop, what are they using in Vancouver?

As i understand it, Premiere, it just needs to be repaired so they are doing that on site presumably, most likely it was not safe to drive, etc. I don't have any additional details only to confirm what someone else posted and add that the truck was hit at a red light.

I'm told it was a minor accident. It has been repaired.

Marc,

Nice, Maybe we will be surprised by game 5 in HD then from anaheim? :)

Is the accident related to the poor PQ of game 3 of the Canucks - especially compared to game 3 of the Sens?

thats very very very unlikely.

CBC HD on Shaw in Van is not working - anyone else experiencing this? I just get a frozen page.

Just an update, the sound is no better than it was last round. Still, when I unplug the center speaker, I'm getting bouncing audio on the other 4 channels. It kinda sounds like my ears are popping...
Will check TSN later, but it hasn't been doing that.

Perhaps you should have an 'audio priest' come in and perform an exorcist on your AV receiver :)

Damn audio people! I swear you can't trust 'em as far as you can throw 'em.

:D

Cheers!

FYI: This weeks CBC HD Schedule (http://www.cbc.ca/hdtv/schedule/CBC_HD_currentweek.pdf) says that tonights game is to be in HD, but the ROUND 2 Stanley Cup broadcast schedule (http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/stanleycup2007/features/broadcast-schedule.html) says it isn't.

I mentioned this one one of the guys who frequently does audio for hockey.

#1 This is normal
#2 To prevent it, stop doing that. :)

Hey Marc, just curious, is this the first Anaheim game to be in HD for this series??

I must say, I've watched all the HD games OTA and have not had any sound or picture quality issues with any of them. Is the problem present only through Rogers or EVU?

Marc

Yes it is the first HD Anaheim game.

hahahah! Sometimes I don't want to listen to the commentators.
If it's normal, then why is it only the CBC it happens on? I don't get the same thing on TSN, or American nets on other sporting events?

There is a compressor/limiter in the audio console. If it works on one channel it has to operate on all channels otherwise the sound field would become distorted. I couldn't say why others don't do it this way.
