Anyone else notice that the PQ on CBC's HD broadcast of the Ottawa vs. Pittsburgh game tonight is crap - this is on Expressvu - CBCHE and CBCHW. What gives?

Yet another Cole-ism: Ottawa put the puck over the boards....in the PENS ZONE!! The Sens player was just trying to get it deep. He thought there was going to be a penalty!

I'm upset at the decision. I think that because Van has an OTA transmitter, and carriage rules with Shaw, *C, etc, there should be 2 HD games. Van/BC should get the Van game HD, and the rest of the country get CGY.

Or TSN should just pick up the broadcast.

This Sucks :( How can they have all the Canadian teams playing on 1 night?

The NHL is sure ruining this first round.

Wow, the HD feed for the Dallas Vancouver game #5 is FAR better quality then the Sens game. Looks great.

Who cares, the Sens just sent the Pens golfing with the Leafs and Centre Hice.
:D:D:D

Round 2 will be either Rangers, Islanders(ya right) or the Devils.

GO SENS GO!!

BTW BEV's split HD feeds are redundant. Where's Calgary and Vancouver's HD coverage?

Sorry you feel that way, the Cup will go West this year.

If you are unhappy with the way the CBC is broadcasting HNIC (in any way), then tell the NHL. They probably wont get back to you but they do listen.

In order to properly prepare penguin for BBQing its necessary to tenderize the meat for a week or so...4 or 5 intense sessions are best.

Its better to start with very young penguin although the crys can be very loud. Older penguin can also be tasty but the tenderization process needs to be much more intense.

For more details, watch the CBC nightly food preparation shows.....although the announcers often get confused as to what type of meat is being prepared.

I'd be interested in any refinements or other recipes DHCs may have...especially in the preparation of blue meat...:)

Thanks for that otown47. I read the recipe to the Pens fan who sits beside me at work. It was everything I could do to leave the red pompoms at home this morning (My wife and I were in Ottawa for game 2).

The decision of which game gets broadcast nationally is based on a combination of politics and which game will attract the most viewers. In some ways you can say the CBC was fair in their decision since on Tuesday the Flames/Wings game was shown nationally and the Canucks/Stars game was only shown in BC. Also, all the Flames/Wings games so far have been in HD, but only Canucks' home games have been in HD.

Or TSN should just pick up the broadcast.

Not everyone can get TSN, but almost everyone in Canada can get CBC.

This Sucks How can they have all the Canadian teams playing on 1 night?

That is the real problem! Why was there a 3 day break between game 1 and game 2? Most likely it was a scheduling conflict at Joe Louis Arena.

The next question is now that the Sens have won their series, will the CBC send Encore to Detroit to show Game 5 in HD (it is currently scheduled to be in WS). Also, why is tonights Lightning/Devils game in HD? Couldn't they send that truck to Dallas to show Saturday night's game in HD? Does TSN have it booked to show the Raptors in NJ Saturday afternoon?

Yes. That is what I said. My question is why? Also why are none of tomorrows games going to be in HD (unless that is going to change and they haven't updated the website yet)?

blue meat should not be prepared at this time of year. It should be considered out-of-season until later in the year. This is of course considered grazing season for blue meat, and can often be seen meandering in small herds on your local golf course :D

I hoep they send Encore to Detroit, especially since it is now not needed in Pittsburg on Sunday.

I hope they send Encore to Detroit, especially since it is now not needed in Pittsburgh on Sunday.

The CBC HD Schedule (http://www.cbc.ca/hdtv/schedule/CBC_HD_currentweeka.pdf) for this week has been updated and shows both Saturday games in WS. Earlier today it only showed the Calgary @ Detroit game, but that may have been because they didn't know if Game 6 in Dallas would be needed. Regardless, this is not a good sign.

I thought the 'Nucks Stars game PQ looked very washed out. Is it me? I seem to recall the Leafs regular season games PQ being great - very white ice, great colour. Hear the ice looked a bit blue and the colours were muted.

The NJ-TOR game tomorrow is in Toronto. There really isn't any sensible reason why they would have the HD truck in NJ and not on the way to Detroit.

I like to eliminate the announcers, makes me feel more like I'm there. But when I get that dipping it just doesn't sound good.

Actually, it may explain why the surrounds seemed so low during the entire game. If it is happening all the time, then the surrounds would constantly be limited/lowered

I tried watching part of the PIT-OTT game without the centre channel, so I wouldn't have to hear Bob Cole. And I found the same thing happening - the apparent limiting of audio from the other speakers during the play. What was worse was that Bob's voice was bleeding into the main L-R speakers, and that unintelligible hum was even more annoying than Bob is ordinarily, so I had to just turn the centre speaker on again and wince.

Ooops. Bad assumption on my part. Any other ideas?
