So name me all the local programming on CBOT-DT excluding HNIT because its showing leafs games....where's your list ?????

I never said I had a list of local programs. As Wayne said, the local news is the obvious one. There may be others that I can't think of. Maybe special local events (they used to have municipal election coverage but they didn't do that this year)? The privately owned affiliates tend to have more local programming than the network channels.

You are right that the CBC could save money by having only one station per time zone, but then you could never get any local programming.

roger1818, I was only asking you to qualify your statement "We don't only get Toronto programming on our new DT station". If its just the news (ie 1/2 hr 5 times per week) then that could be watched on the analog station.

Hockey Night in Canada triple-header:

3:00pm ET: New York Rangers vs Ottawa Senators (WS full network)
7:00pm ET: Toronto Maple Leafs vs Detroit Red Wings (HD full network)
10:00pm ET: Vancouver Canucks vs Calgary Flames (WS full network)

Well we do get the local news and although I agree that it isn't much local content it is some local content, but you are right and it could be watched on the analog station for now.

However, just because they sometimes substitute the National game in HD for the local game doesn't mean they will always do that. Come playoff time they may decide to show the local game in WS instead of a national game in HD. It is also concevalble that they could decide to show a Sens game in HD in Ottawa while showing a Leafs game in Toronto.

the Ottawa-NY game isn't widescreen, and it looks horrendous. I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't have an analog TV they can watch that on.

It still looks better on the HD channel than the SD channel....although the sound is better on the SD channel.

the entire pregame bit was 4:3, but it seems the leaf game is in HD.

026163:

The other two games haven't even aired yet. Why are you getting so upset over something that hasn't even aired yet for you to see in what format they are broadcasting?

Anyone else noticing any audio problems today? It sounds like the announcers are talking through a tin can for the TO/DET game. There's also quite a few sync issues and volume fluctuations. Using BEV.

HD quality is pretty good.

jmarkle: I noticed the same thing. It doesn't matter what service provider you have, the problems arise from CBC. I'm watching it via OTA. Sounds like Harry Neale's mic is too close to his mouth or is boosted too high compared to Bob Cole's.

Edit: As of 19:25 it sounds as though they've fixed the audio problems.

PQ looked alright, but not great. To me the picture was really dark. I don't know why, but everytime CBC does a HD game, the picture looks dark. TSN's games have more brightness then CBC, even though I didn't feel that way about Wednesday's Carolina/Edmonton game. I was watching the Ducks/Lightning in HD on Centre Ice and the PQ of this was way better then CBC. Even the brightness was better. During intermission I would turn it to CBC and was very disappointed in what I was seeing. Why can't CBC actually get the brightness right. Even the games in Toronto are better on TSN then CBC.

maybe that's just your setup, i've never noticed CBC-HD (OTA) looking dark when broadcasting hockey. I'm usually just bugged by how noticable them motion blurring is in hockey.

but i guess our technology just isn't good enough to handle the motion yet.

Maybe that,s just your setup, because I don't notice the motion blur on my tv,but I sure notice how dark the picture is compared to other HD hockey telecasts.:D

PQ was ok, 4 out of 10 in my opinion. Too dark, some angles looked poor, inconsist, audio issues.

Game was great, go Wings go! lol

Ducks/Wings game on CBCHD tonight. My thoughts on the game was PQ was OK, but not great. The usual out of CBC. Picture still looked too dark. I've seen FSN Detroit HD games look great, but it seems when CBC goes to an arena, they can't seem to get brightness levels right. Orange Bowl on FOX looked far more superior then this. Will CBC ever get it right? HNIC looked much better last season.
