essencedesign 2007-08-26, 02:45 PM Newly switched over to Shaw "Extreme" Cable in Surrey BC.
Speeds from Speedtest.net
7800 Download
507 Upload
$45 per month
100 gig download
Shaw says it should be "up to 10mb" , and this test was done while utorrent was running, not sure if that makes a difference.
A day before I ran the test with Telus 'Hi Speed' DSL
I got only
1420 Download
240 Upload
So I have to give Shaw credit they definatly are a lot faster here.

shabbs 2007-09-03, 01:38 PM My recent switch to Rogers Express:
- 7092 kb/s down
- 506 kb/s up
Un-bundled, un-discounted cost: $44.95/mo + $3.00/mo modem rental. Naturally I've bundled, and also have a promo price.
Those speeds are right in line with what they say for Rogers Express.
I see they now have Rogers Extreme Plus: 18 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up @ $99.95/month. WOW! That's fast AND expensive. Anyone have it yet?
Cheers.

MistahTibbs 2007-10-05, 01:31 AM Hey all,
Just moved from the country (dialup) to town (Sympatico dsl)
Obviously, quite the difference.
OK
Midrange package
$50 (but we get the $5 bundle discount PLUS there was a serious screw-up by Bell when we moved into town so they knocked $10/month off the price "for 99 years" according the phone rep. Sounds good to me. We'll be watching our bill, though. "Trust but verify" like Reagan said...I think it was Reagan.
Anyway, my latest result at 0120 hours this morning.

Unlimited and only $30 per month plus GST. This is a third less expensive than my old Sympatico account ($45 per month, canceled just before they imposed bandwidth caps).

azabkk 2007-10-21, 08:41 PM Singapore has just introduced a 100 mbps cable based service, you need a special cable modem from motorola...http://www.speedtest.net/result/194822439.png
I'm on Bell Sympatico High Speed Edition - Don't know what it maps to with all the new naming conventions (Intenet Max, Essentials, Essentials plus or Total Internet Performance). I believe it should be 5 Mbps. I also believe because I have a grandfather account, there are no bandwidth limits.

was paying $37.21 / month including modem rental and tax locked into 1 year. price just went up to $50.99 - not locked in. Time to renegotiate or jump ship.
