Hmmm, had shaw out and they put something on my line to cut the signal power a bit, (only have the modem hooked up, no TV's or phones, ect.). He didn't replace my older surfboard modem but said I could take it in to the shaw office and get a swap to a SB5102.

Can anyone verify if it is worth it to upgrade from the first surfboard model, (SB5100), thats 3+ years old?

I'm not really sure about all the hype surrounding these speedtest results. I have shaw high speed. Last night I ran speedtest with the recommended server and received 88000 kbs download speed (~500 upload). I redid it a few times and came up with results varying 50,000-60,000 or so. I don't really notice any difference in downloading or internet useage. Using a longer distance server (500+miles) I clocked in around 24,000. If I can figure out how to post the speedtest results I will.

Use the speedtest at testmy.net and do a 100MB test for accurate results.

It says awesome in there somewhere so that must be good. I'm just an average user so whether it says awesome or just plain average may not make much difference to me.

I used Seatle instead of the reccomended Montreal because the sites i vist aren`t based in Montreal. I wanted to know what normal usage would show.

Im on rogers portable internet. Tested connection on laptop so ping times are usually lower on my desktop, normally around 250ms. There higher than i want but better than 850ms for satellite.
