Anyone know if any of the (Canuck) CBC games are in HD?

Yeah the PQ was great but I didn't get it in 5.1 for some reason.

I agree that the picture quality was nice, and the 5.1 sound...oh yeah! I turned it up just enough to hear the announcers nicely...and then the hits came. Needless to say I was shot a few sideways glances from my fiance beside me on the couch. For some reason though, as soon as the Col vs. Dal game started, I lost the 5.1 sound and it reverted back to Dolby 2.0?!?

I guess the MTL-Buf game tonight isnt in HD. Their Coming up Next graphics during Sportscentre mentioned both the pregame and actual game in HD. Guess just another mistake. :(

Ya, on TSN's website it was never listed as being in HD.

Total Hockey at 7:00 ET was in HD though.

No problems here at all. My bro and dad are over to watch their first game in HD, and they're loving it.

Are you on BEV?

It's looking fine here.

Try powering off, then on, your receiver; that should get things moving smoothly again. I get this from time to time, most particularly on CTV-HD. A power off/on cycle, or three, usually clears it up. No idea why it happens though.

Shaw.

It was fine on all other cams except the main cam. And even then, the main cam was fine when it was still, but when it panned left to right or right to left going through the neutral zone, it did so VERY jerkily...

All other angles, shots, and pans were fine.

But it made the fast-paced action unwatchable...

Last night was my first night watching TSN HD hockey where everything was actually working as it should, in relation to PQ and SQ, though I noticed that the 5.1 mix at times seemed to fade in and out.

One instance where it was working properly was when the Sabres fans were booing one of the "phantom" tripping calls in the first and I got a fan booing in my right ear... it was immersive, I'll say that much :D

However (and I'm sorry I didn't record this to comfirm) later in the game it seemed the rears weren't used quite as much, sound engineer getting lazy? I realize that doing a 5.1 mix "on the fly" must be tough but it was so nicely done in the beginning, maybe TSN needs to hire more engineers for the truck?

When will TSN televise Leaf Home Games in HD; every time I look it's in SD.

Very, very frustrating; it appears that they just pick up out of town games feeds in HD and supply the audio as necessary. As per posts I've seen by a moderator, HDNET, which is coming to Cogeco, is not allowed to televise games on HDNET CANADA, as TSN has the cable rights in Canada--so much
for free trade agreements.

TSN's NHL schedule is below, HD games are marked accordingly.

Long time lurker - had to finally register and second what Peterboro31 said. VERY frustrating watching Leafs on TSN in Standard Def. In fact, if there is another hockey game on in HD, I usually watch that...TSN standard def is that bad.

HD hockey on this new TH50PX60 is jaw dropping.
I cry when Leafs are on TSN.

Also cried that last night's Crosby Ovechkin game was not HD.
I'll even watch HD football over hockey...when will the broadcasters learn?

Great forum...daily visitor.
thanks!

Wow, Leaf fans sure have it rough:
Leafs in HD every Saturday night (except for unusual circumstances)
Leafs in HD on TSN national broadcasts

On the other hand, TSN also has the Leafs regional games. TSN-HD is a national feed, meaning the "regional" games can't appear on TSN-HD. Result is that Leaf fans have to look at an SD for some games. Oh no! ;)

Guess what the rest of the country has to live with...(this could be difficult as it will require looking away from the centre of the universe). ;)

Candiens are on RDS--is there an HD version of RDS? Get back to me on that please.

Oilers, Flames, Canucks, and Senators regional games are all on various flavours of Sportsnet, while Sportsnet HD is national. Consequently, not a single 'regional' game is in HD. Since Sportsnet has no national rights, they don't have the option of flipping a regional broadcast into a national one (TSN has done that a few times already this year, adding even more HD games to the Leaf sched).

As for Hockey Night in Canada, a second HD truck will hopefully be available for the spring, meaning the late game on HNIC will have a chance of being HD.

In other words, the non-Leaf Canadian teams only get a handful of HD games per year. Strangely enough, whining about occasional SD Leaf games doesn't generate a heaping of sympathy. Go figure.

Geez, sorry to be a hockey fan guys.

You can express your unhappiness for your team's HD exposure as well if you like. I'm sure there might be a reason for an increased number of Toronto games to be in HD. Numbers is one thing that comes to mind.

That said, the thread is TSN and HD, so I'll continue to be miserable at ANY hockey games in standard def. Regardless of the many fans of other teams in Canada with a certain lower body kind of envy, I'm a fan of hockey,
and look forward to the day when I can tune into TSN and catch Hemsky on a breakaway in high def, or Gerber stoning Crosby...ok, Gerber stoning one of the younger Staal brothers on a slapshot from the blueline.

Until that day, I'll watch Washington Capitals in high def if I have to.

RDS HD is suppose to be launch in October 2007

TSN is not 'supposed' to be a regional station, yet somehow they get around that restriction for the purpose of showing leafs games.
