: New BEV HD Receiver In 2007 Discussion
unreal1080p 2006-09-27, 09:32 PM That's $199 to get out of the old lease and switch to a 622. Considering you still don't own the 622 it's a really bad deal. Thank EV for not offering the 942. It's one of the worst receivers Dish ever made and cost US$1000 (with a 70-75 cent loony.)
942(US) = 9200(CAN) EV definetely offers the 942... it's the 9200! I even received a 942 as a replacement from EV when my 9200 went E551 last November (before the know fix was released).
Let it be know that the 9200 has ALWAYS been cheaper in CANADA then it's US counterpart the 942.

I believe you mean the 921.
CharlesK 2006-10-04, 11:16 AM There will be a free upgrade to all hd users.
Even non PVR owners? I've been thinking about replacing/complementing my 6100 but the lack of deals for existing subscribers makes that an expensive proposition.
If BEV actually does a free replacement that would be a great reward for customer loyalty :)

Thanks. I'm having a bad day and needed a good laugh.
visiter555 2006-10-05, 10:08 AM Lease upgrade fee for the ViP622 is $199.99, that is not the actual receiver cost.
Correct, and there is a 'rebate' of $100 for existing and $200 for new customers when leasing/purchasing the ViP irds.
There is also a lease fee of $6/mth plus DVR fees (unless you have the highest package where they waive the DVR fee). The lease fee is $0.01 more than the additional receiver fee.
Purchasing the ViP211 is $199 from most dealers with a $249 list and the ViP622 is $449 list with street around $399 again with those rebates applied to the above fees you can get away without a "lease" upfront payment.
visiter555 2006-10-05, 10:12 AM The difference between Bell & EVu really comes out in the purchase and rebates. Existing subs at EVu still get rebates, ($100 existing vs. $200 for new). As well the prices...as I said above...street for the 211 is under $200 us and the 622 is under $400 BEFORE the rebates...
As well, look at the lease rate of $6.00 for a 622 compared to the 9200!!! Who's kidding who here?
Bell does not recognize the value of existing subs when they make their promos...

Noob question! What company is EVu? Thanks

I totally agree with you!

Sorry! EVu, Bev or Bell refers to ExpressVu

Which makes the post somewhat confusing ... :)
HoldOut 2007-01-23, 12:56 AM Hi,
I am a longtime 6000 user thinking about upgrading to the 9200. I have seen a few postings on the eventual upgrade to MPEG4 with some stating that the 9200 is upgradeable to support MPEG4 and others stating it is not.
Any feedback on Purchase vs Rent would be appreciated.
Thanks,
radiologist46 2007-01-23, 10:21 AM I think the rental is the way to go, but that is a personal opinion. These PVR`s are hard drive units which can fail over time, complicated electronics etc, u rent they replace for the life of the rental. To me in my hectic life it is a simpler process. That was my deciding factor.
I always buy my equipment. When something new comes out I sell it and buy the new one. usually I get very good return on selling the BEV equipment.
HoldOut 2007-01-23, 08:27 PM Q,
I am also one who tends to buy outright instead of renting. The way I look at it at $20.00 a month it does not take long to pay for itself. Especially if you are new to BEV (which I am not) and you get the $300.00 in programming credits.
It appears as though US providers are providing free or $99.00 upgrades, depending what threads you read. I would have to assume BEV would have to run a similar program if they force the MPEG4 HD support.
Effective Jan 24 all stock that is out for both systems as far as outright sales go is it, no more will be shipped for outright sales, they will still be availible for rental basis. A new HD receiver will be out early in April, no specs as of yet.
So this means that the ONLY way to get ExpressVu is to rent units and to sign up for a contract?
Or is this only for stuff sold through Bell site.
If what your saying is true, then it means BB / FS etc won't be selling ExpressVu equipment?
If a new receiver is coming out then what Dish receiver will we be expecting?
scrooloose 2007-01-26, 10:18 AM These would be the likely two candidates:

I believe Echostar announced an enhanced model VIP622 with bigger hard disk at CES 2007 too. Both models support MPEG4.
Just guessing though, I have no inside information.

From what I am told through a source is that all of the stock that is out at stores now as far as 6100 and 9200 go is all that will be shipped, however if you call into 310-Bell you can still get these receivers in the AIO rental packages, but they will not do out right sales for thes units. No specs yet on the new HD receivers coming out but the time is early April of this year, another source whom is doing catchup installs in Calgary for ExVu is saying they are out of the 9200`s. This is what I have been told so far and the date this is in effect is Januray 24/07.
unreal1080p 2007-01-26, 04:28 PM As per this article on Digitalhome:

I sure hope this is wrong and that BEV skips the Vip622 to bring us the newer Vip622-1 (500gigs VS 300gigs + USB enabled for unlimited storage add-on hard drives + VC-1 support).
I will be very upset if all they bring us is the Vip622 which gives you almost nothing VS the 9200. If that is the receiver they bring out, I will wait for them to swap out my 9200 for free (because of the Mpeg4 switch). However, if it's the -1 version of the 622, I will not wait for the swap to Mpeg4 to happen and will buy it right away (given BEV's version of the receiver keeps the USB ports active and working for additional storage).
junglistic 2007-01-26, 04:38 PM simple quesiton, besides a larger hard drive, what does this have over the 9200?
