I have had no problems with the receiver. I wish I would have read these forums before I purchased the 9200, I would have waited. I should have known something was up when I went in to the Bell store and they did not have any 9200 in stock.
Spark, don't beat yourself up too much over this. The new receivers are purely speculation at this point. Even when there is a public announcement, it can take many months for the units to hit the stores. Such was the case with the 9200: I was on the waiting list at 5 stores so I could get one of the first batch when they came out in July 2005.

So it could be next month, or it could easily be 6 months before these new models are available. And if you choose to wait, then you'll be without a PVR for that time.

:p They will be out by mid-year...at least this is what was written in the memo they posted to the agents earlier this month. No realease date.

Will keep you updated as soon as we have more "official" info :p

The best way to view the JPG is to right click on the link and choose save as. Then once saved view it at 100%.

Scroll down to the bottom of the reciever list and see the promotion for the 9200. It clearly says new or existing customrs.

This was printed out for me by the CSR at my local futureshop. It is from their internal website that shows promotions that can be offered to customers. Its normally viewed only by staff.

It also says - programming credit fufilled by Expressvu.

6100's get $150 and $300 for 9200's

Well, that may be their intention, but whether it really happens is another thing. Let's rewind the clock 3yrs to their Q1 2004 press release about upcoming new receivers. While they did deliver the 6100 shortly there after, that press release stated that they would have a a dual tuner HD PVR available by that fall. At that time they were thinking on the 921 but as we all know, then ended up going with the 942 and not having that come out until July 2005 and only in limited quantities at first.

So sure, there were many issues with the 921 that caused BEV to change plans, but approximately 18 months from a press release to GA is a long time to wait.

I hope that they do bring out the new models soon, but going on past experience, I won't believe it until it actually happens. For the 622 my prediction is September!

I have deleted a lot of posts that were way off topic.

This thread is about new Bell receivers in 2007. It is not about HD channels or HD packages.

Future off-topic posts about HD Programming and programming packages will be deleted and the posters will receive infractions.

In addition, rants will also be deleted and posters given infractions. This thread is about possible new receivers. Nothing is official.

The can hold off on the release of any new HS reciever if they want, I am quite content with what the 9200's I have do, the 6100 is satisfactory.

I hope they do the 50% off for existing subs who are agreeing to stay soon as per this information. they could be getting more arpu per sub that way.

also if they are offering these discounts and we go to this mpeg4 thing, does this not make your existing reciever useless or is it still going to work?

Might work for sd content, but eventually all hd content will be in mpeg4 format or that is atleast what people are expecting.

Someone with close ties with Bell reported that all HD receivers would be swapped out no charge once mpeg4 is in effect. I hope so because I'm buying a 9220 kit tomorrow, I would not be a happy bell camper if my HD pvr works only for a couple of months. I could wait but the NHL playoffs are starting soon.....

Quoted from ''workforbell'': There will be a free upgrade to all hd users.

This is what workforbell says but where did he get that info? What is his title or position whithin the compagny? I work for Bell too, i'm a senior CSR, verified the info with our tech 3 departement and there was ever no discussion about that he said. Verified a few times with different agents and all of them were quite amused to hear that and quite positive that this won't happen, that the person who wrote that certainly isn't working there. Tech 3 is the departement who usually autorises receiver replacement.

Now you have the choice to belive workforbell and be deceived that what he said didn't happen or get realistic and belive Agent Express V and get a clear view of the situation. BEV never gives anything free...

It would be business suicide to not replace them. they would be handing over their hd customers to star choice or rogers if they dont

...get realistic and belive Agent Express V and get a clear view of the situation.I'd like to imagine a swap, however, even a substantial credit would be fine, too. I'd like to believe what you're saying here AEV; that said, after having sent two private messages to you, and not having heard a reply to either, you could say that I am a little dubious with your feedback and comments.

Not because I didn't answer you on something I wasn't a 100% sure about means that I don't know what i'm talking about...I didn't answer because I wasn't sure about the answer. They, by mistake deleted the message. I give answer when i'm sure about what I state. If i'm not I will try to get answer from the responsible depratement or group THEN give an answer after.

We never heard from workforbell anymore...

PM me your issue again and i'll this time get a straight answer for one of the best tech at BEV, a guy at my helpdesk

How can I get a firm commitment from Bell when I am going to spend almost $700.00 with taxes (ok, I get $300.00 credit return when I sign for 24 months) and they can't commit to me how long this pvr will be in the stream?????? Hellllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everybody and their brother (sister) want to know when is HD going to mpeg4 and will the 9200 be able to handle an upgrade to it? Is this asking too much? Your customers need a commitment and deserve an answer, it is our $$$$ that is giving you business, or does it really matter?

Oh yeah, one more thing, so your agents were quite amused at this. Well spending that amount of money without knowing how long it will last is not amusing to me. I'm shocked at your statement, but not surprised!!

Good question Sweetmarie!
This has class action lawsuit/media awareness written all over it. A person can spend hundreds of $$ only to find a short time later they can not get all the programming available due to changing technology. Same with me but 18 months ago I bought two 9200 receivers at $700 a pop, this translates in roughly $80 month for the hardware plus programming fees....BEV don't help their customers, they can be sure there will be legal ramifications from it.

We never heard from workforbell anymore...

The self proclaimed insider savior got a little too big for his britches trying to counter/discredit a lot of my postings in favour of the other provider and did so in an irresponsible manner.

And re-appeared several times following constant banning.
Nor were his credentials every validated.
OTOH, my credentials have been proven to the Admin.

I do think that as providers migrate to new transmission technolgies, we will see some form of swap and/or favourable trade up for older equipment.

Seems the other provider is or plans doing that in their 8PSK Hi-Def migration this summer.

Bell's rental program is/was a great idea when faced with changing technology, or having a unit already deployed that either already has 8PSK tuners and a simple lo-cost MPEG4 plugin.

Either way, the customers investment with the provider needs to be preserved.

We all agree, this is a no brainer. The question is, WILL the customers investment $$$ with the provider be preserved?
