Not available for sales, but available for rental.

Radiologist what is your problem with me? I never said I know enerything about Bell, that why, as I mentionned before I went to verify with appropiate departement who gave me the answers I posted on the forum.

As for the new receiver that should come out in April, it's truly impossible...they haven't got a compgny to make that receiver!
Oh come on now Mr. Agent - Bell would come this far with Dish and then dump them without a plan? Hard to swallow that, I think there's stuff going on that you just haven't heard about.

robtsk well said, Agent Express V I do not mean to pick on you, I just know that more is going than you know or I know. Postulating, talking ,guessing and getting hard information is what the forums are about.

Like I said in a past post the Bell Rep for Manitoba told me new receivers are happening, so is he lying to me? More capacity in HD is needed, there are finite ways to get that, new receivers is about the only way, 1 + 1 = 2.

To get the best answer call 1-888-SKY-DISH and ask to be connected to our direct sales departement. They are the ones who can give you the best answer on when it would be available as they are the first one who will sale the receivers.

I don't say that the rep lied to you...there would definetly be a receiver out eventually. If he told you April taught, it's quite unlikely. Since many of you had the same info about those "new" receiver I talked to a few techs and direct sales before I posted my info.

Would you speculate that Bell has decided that the less ExpressVu employees know about the change (new receivers) the better? So that would mean that the phone support people (like yourself) do not know to prevent them from telling customers (accidentally or intensionally) just in case Bell decides to change something? Perhaps the sales rep that mentioned that receivers are coming might have found out from another source in Bell?

Oh please.

Agent Express V, haven't you read enough in these forums to see that getting any information from BEV is like pulling teeth? They won't acknowledge issues I've been having with my 9200 since the software upgrade - what makes you think they will tell us (or you for that matter) any planned upcoming changes to the current receiver? Do you think that the members here are making up the "issues"?

I don't want to seem like I'm picking on you either but it's dissappointing to come here looking for impartial information/opinions only to be spoon fed the same lines I can get from BEV directly. I think it's good that we have a representative here (official or unofficial) but I'd like for you to give us tips and tricks you've discovered over time which can help us enhance our BEV experience as opposed to quotes from our service contracts.

We get it, the company says officially there are no plans for a new HD receiver in 2007 but this thread is about discussing that there might be.

"phone 1-888-SKY-DISH and ask them"

I'm not trying to pick on anyone, honestly, but that statement really did give me a good chuckle.

I'd like to see Hugh drop in on this discussion, his article got this ball rolling.

I agree, if all this is wrong, where did the information originally come from?

I was in the US last week and got to see the new VIP Dish reciever.
Looks just like the 9200 front and back, except there is a RJ-45 network connector.
One thing I thought was starange, the front panel didn't open like the 9200.
I find it hard to believe they'd make a receiver without any switches, how would we do the reboot all the time?
Maybe i could run a new wall switch just for the power cord, so i could do the hard reboot?

Actually no I didn't.

The one who really got this discussion rolling was workforbell aka davethehelper, jay21 and more last September. That was four months before I weighed in on the matter!

I ignored what workforbell said for months (he first posted last September - post #5 of this thread - about new boxes, a swap and Mpeg4) because he's "a dealer in Manitoba" and does not work directly for Bell. For those that remember, this thread was prefaced with "Rumour" for many months.

By the way, that Manitoba dealer that Canada45 (aka radiologist46) mentions is workforbell.

To the subject at hand: In January of this year I was told by two Bell Employees, that ExpressVu would be introducing two new HD receivers in April.

As noted in the article, it was EXPECTED and NOT confirmed because there had been no official announcement from Bell. The speculation from the people who provided me with the information was that the two units would be rebranded Dish ViP211 and Dish 622 models.

This is why I wrote "The models expected to be replaced are the ExpressVu 6100 HD Receiver and the ExpressVu 9200 HD PVR." and that "Digital Home will post further details and pricing information when the information has been confirmed."

It's also why I posted in this thread:

As noted, there has been no official announcements from Bell.

As to which models, its speculation at this point. The 622 was mentioned to me but I did not know there was two models so I did not inquire further!

I'll post again if I get something more.

Regarding a receiver swap or a change from Mpeg2 and Mpeg4, I have never published any information because no one ever told me anything that was reliable and I never believed workforbell's information. My personal belief, and I stated this somewhere on the forum, is I don't believe a receiver swap will take place.

What I can Add today

Bell PR people won't discuss with me plans for new receivers until its official so I can't give you any official or updated information, however, I still believe new models will be coming soon.

Thanks for the recap and clarifying some of the statements by previous posters. The background on them was helpful for me.
I enjoy this thread, especially the logistics of switching from mpeg 2-4 (if it even happens) but if anyone takes it as gospel they haven't read it thoroughly.

PS: Hugh, didn't mean to imply you got the ball rolling on a swap, you didn't, I was referring to the article you did on the prospect of a new receiver line. I think that drew alot of attention to this thread which spawned into mpeg 4 conversion which spawned into a swap program.

LOL

You gave me a good laugh today, to bad you got it wrong. Wow I have more power with Bell than I thought I have. The rep is actual rep for Bell and I met him at Visions in Winnipeg and do not even remember his name and asked the questions like the good little consumer I` am. I will have to look up workforbell, but alas I do not know him. Just wanted to pass on the information to your site...... a good one thanks for the chuckle... LOL, LOL

jay2121 aka workforbell is known to give false information about ExpressVu perhaps for personal gain. I have followed his posts since I joined here in 2002. I do not believe anything he says.

The fact he insists the swap will be free has me convinced it will not.

Interesting comments. Are you aware that Bell has been streaming the firmware for the Echostar 211 and 622 receivers on and off for the past 16 months plus?

This is easy to verify if you have any knowlegde of stream contents. Sort of makes your "no knowledge of any new or potential recievers" suspect.

New Dish receiver? LOL

You mean the year old ViP211 or ViP622? Or maybe the discontinued ViP411? Or are you talking about the new (been out in field testing for 16 months) ViP222 (Dual tuner 1 x HD & 1 x SD non PVR) and the other two "new" receivers that Dish will unveil at "Team Summit" in May?

It is soooooooooo confusing these days!

Dish even has ANOTHER new switch being announced at Dish Summit in May!!!!!

So, it would seem that Bell did have something in to works. :)

I guess now we can let the speculation begin as to which dish model each maps to. My guess i the 9241 will have the same size HD as the 9200 and the 9242 will have the bigger HD.

6141, 9241, and 9242
Three new receivers then, 2 versions of theViP622 possibly?

Could be the ViP211, ViP222, ViP612 or ViP622, ViP622-1 or the other new receivers rolling out from Echostar in May.

It's all a fun guessing game! But I love my ViP622 especially with the new firmware! PIP split screen side-by-side from the receiver!!!!!!!! Hope there are not too many bugs!!!!!

Be careful what you wish for...the DishNetwork VIP622 has NOT received stellar reviews.

In fact, the reviews I have read are quite the opposite, machine rebooting on it's own, heavy pixellation and audio drops are daily occurances.

You read reviews on them... I own a pair of them and have not had one single problem with either.
