If I have 3 receivers, and I wanted to sell one to someone who doesn't have an account with Starchoice...how does it work? Do I tell Starchoice which receiver and who I'm selling to? Or do I just call them and take that receiver out of my account?
Thanks.

Basically, you don't have to do anything anymore, other than make sure your account is paid up to date.
That said, if you call them to take off the receiver and report that it has been sold, it will guarantee there will be no problems for the next person.
The person you're selling to may want to buy at least one new receiver to get the free dish and install.

I'm wondering if after I'm done with Starchoice I can legally sell my receivers (currently 4 DSR207's).
Starchoice used to have some info on it (post 2), but that page is no longer there.

Yes you can sell your receivers to anyone. As long as you pay off your last bill, that person can add it to their account with no problems. All they are required to do is provide the serial # or unit ID #.

Well, I went ahead and called them..."no problem" the lady said...I gave her the unit ID of the receiver, she said "there you go, it's taken out of your account, all the person has to do is call us and set up an account and give us the unit ID number".
So two days later, the person I gave the receiver to, calls me and says, "can you call those *******s and straighten this out, they are saying that the receiver does not exist". So I call them....the receiver is STILL in my account. Then the guy tells me, "I can't take it out of your account without the serial number". So I told him to call her, and ask her for the serial number since she has the receiver now. It took two days for them to straighten it out...so word of caution, before you sell or give away a receiver, take the serial number off of it, you'll need it, as they apparently cannot remove the receiver from the account without the serial number, not just the unit ID!!

Wow, sorry you had to go through all that hassle NO-CRTC. You must have dealt with new agents or a not so bright agent. On agent's screen they see both the Unit ID and Serial Number of the receivers on an account so you can give them one or the other. However, you are right that giving the serial number is preferred as the only way to add/remove receivers is by entering the serial number. If you give the Unit ID, they have to go into another screen and enter in the Unit ID number to get a matching Serial number.

I had a DSR 305 that came off of another account. I sat on it for a while before I ever added it to my account, never had trouble getting it done.
