New Channels always generate a lot of discussion so this thread is for discussing new channels in 2006.

You're welcome to speculate and discuss new channels coming to Rogers in 2006 but PLEASE unless it's been confirmed by an official press release, be clear about what is speculation and what is fact.

A post saying "a CSR said it was coming" is NOT official, however, it does put it in the "highly" likely category.

If its posted on the CRTC site that its been approved by the CRTC but Rogers has not said anything, I would consider that in the "not very likely at this time" category.

I would like to see the WB-HD...

They did mention it on one of their mailings as going to be available in some areas... still waiting.

Is "-DT" shorthand for HD? I already get all three channels you mention in SD format.

-DT is either Digital Televison or Digital Transmission, im not exactly sure.

Example: where CFTO-TV is the standard definition station, CFTO-DT is the station broadcasting High Definition content.

I would love to see Howard-on-Demand. We have ROD, TMNOD, Anime and a bunch of others. I have asked Rogers to add this station. They claimed he is too offensive to have. I replied, it's subscription based to you can't just tune in to it. I also added they have tons of 'adult' ppv stations that are more offensive then Stern. Yes, Stern is a bit offensive at times and does show some nudity from time to time. But it's not 60 minutes of people having sex!

What Digitial Specity channels besides multicultural coming to our lineup?

Canada sucks sometimes.. well in CRTC matters anyway. What the hell is SO offensive about Howard Stern?? Thank god for the internet. Have some balls Rogers.

I'd love to see some HD-OnDemand channels. Maybe TMNHD-OD? I wonder how feasable it is considering the current infrastructure. I think the demand for this is inevitable.

Cablevision in the US (Serving many areas around NYC) have had On Demand HD content for about a year now, so it is definately feasible.

I keep waiting for TV Globo International channel (from Brazil) to be launched to watch live Brazilian soccer again.
I had been told by a CSR it would launch on Dec. 14th and was even given the price, the channel # and how long it would be free for.

On the 14th, nothing happened and the CSRs keep saying it's under negotiations. Most of the channels approved by CRTC on November 24th lave launched, but no Globo yet....

That's funny. Stern too offensive. Rogers currently carries plenty of content (open and PPV) that is worse than Howard. I have plenty of channels locked out from my kids. That's all you have to do. The CSR you spoke to is obviously uninformed. I'm going to give them a call about On Demand also.

uh, yeah I've heard him :) .. and I'm hearing him right now as a matter of fact.

The fact that he's offensive is one of the biggest misnomers of his persona. But it really doesn't matter whether it's offensive or not. If you want the content you buy it, if you don't want it -- you don't buy it.

Rogers can air the on demand content if they want. Personally I'd love to see the CRTC challenged and see how they can allow Explict Porn on demand, and then turn around and say Stern is offensive... what a country.

We were promised WB-HD 4 months ago from an official Rogers mailing, and still no sign of it.
