: ON - Bowmanville, Peterborough, Trenton, Kawarthas - OTA
tlamothe 2008-07-07, 09:58 AM Matt, I am in Kingston so I can't really help you on the Toronto stuff, but I am surprised you aren't getting 8-1 WROC (broadcasting on 45) and 31-1 (broadcasting on 28) from Rochester. (You don't need them, its a CBS and Fox feed and you get those from Buffalo)
Now that I am thinking about it, I think CTV Toronto digital is broadcasting on channel 40 and Rochester has a low power on channel 40 which I can get pretty good on and off throughout the summer, that could be causing you some grief.
Tom.F.1 2008-07-07, 11:09 AM Matt,
If you can see CN Tower you should be getting CFTO & City, Global never got PSIP figured out. I get good signal on CH in Ajax, you should be able to pick that up on a good day.
My guess is your problem is the Hisense tuner. Other have had problems reading certain channels, It seems that once the box decideds it doesn't like that channel, you'll never, ever be able to get it again. No amount of resetting will ever fix it. Others have had similar problems.
I suggest trying a new set top box tuner or a tuner built in to a new TV.
Good Luck!!
Techymum 2008-07-15, 06:15 PM Hi,
I have been reading posts, and searching, so I apologize if this has already been addressed and I can't find it.
We have a cottage on Eagle Lake, in Haliburton, Ontario. Currently have an old antenna.
When our vintage tv died, and was replaced, we can no longer get the two channels we could before. (Which wasn't too great anyway, but at least we got something!)
I am looking for someone in that area who is able to help us get into the new equipment I'm reading about here.
With all the hills in the haliburton region, I need to find out if it is feasible before I purchase the equipment needed.
Thank you,
johnny2eyes 2008-07-20, 02:05 PM Hi,Can anyone in kingston, ontario tell me if they are able to get any ota hd channels in? I was able to get discoveryhd and hdnet video in but no audio, just let me know, thanks.

johnnysmoke 2008-07-20, 04:11 PM PBS + two subchannels and channel 7 Watertown plus one subchannel (Fox) received from north-east of Kingston.
dataiv 2008-07-20, 05:16 PM OTA I could receive WPBS HD (and two sub channels as mentioned), CBS HD with FOX as a sub channel, ABC HD with TheCW as a sub channel.
Matt2112 2008-07-29, 02:06 PM My guess is your problem is the Hisense tuner. Other have had problems reading certain channelsYeah, I figured it may be the Hisense. I've ordered and am awaiting my Samsung SAMSUNG DTB-H260F DIGITAL HDTV RECEIVER. I will report results after I get it up and running.
Thanks all.
Matt
Matt2112 2008-08-06, 01:46 PM Ok,
I got the Samsung, and I did manage to get CFTO. However - City, Global and SunTV are still too weak to get, at least at my location.
39sfa 2008-08-06, 02:33 PM Matt2112, I have reliability issues with global (UHF 65) and SunTV (66) unless I aim my 4221 almost directly at downtown Toronto, but strangely enough CityTV (53) is one of my most reliable signals.
PicklesRichard 2008-08-16, 06:18 PM Hi everyone;
I will post full results in the proper forum, but wanted to follow up on my last post. I have my CM4228, CM7778, CM9521 Rotor and the Samsung DTB-H260F tuner installed and am in awe... First sweep on the Bravia with antenna at 220 degrees netted 23 Analog and 31 Digital channels. All perfect....
Absolutely going to be a couch tater tonight.
Cheers, Richard.
PicklesRichard 2008-08-17, 08:43 AM One mistake, It's a CM7777 preamp not the 7778. During settup we went with the more powerful preamp.
Richard.
PicklesRichard 2008-08-17, 12:28 PM Woke up, Called Rogers, cancelled service, took rental box back, came back home, Watching TV....ahhhhhhh. Was talking to a couple of buddies this morning, they want to check out the picture and quality, this should be funny as i'm going to be able to show them the Olympics on NBC at 1080i on the plasma.
Side note, Wife watched CSI in HD last night... She loves it and was extra happy with no more Rogers bills. Win Win with OTA
Thanks again to everyone here for the help and advice.
Richard.
viglnt2000 2008-08-19, 11:17 AM PicklesRichard,
Did you notice I haven't bothered to take my ladder down...lol I have it tied in place, it's almost routine going up there...lol
I have purchased a channel vision amplified multiswitch, I will be replacing the un powered switch (it had a 12 db loss). I am going to see if that helps me get anymore channels.
PicklesRichard 2008-08-20, 03:58 PM I was going to ask if the ladder is now part of the back garden.
