When Setanta first came to Canada (August 2007) there were ads in between games and during half time...I seem to recall one that they played over and over again for some golf course/subdivision in the hills in North Carolina that was promoted by an Irish golfer ..You don't win a major for a few years and how soon they forget your name - It was Padraig Harrington.

I hope the cricket doesn't adversely affect the rugby union coverage on the channel - which is the only reason that I subscribe to the channel. What time of year are these cricket events played? The light time on the channel is currently from about May through July as that is the offseason for both soccer and rugby.

It all depends what cricket they will be showing. In the northern hemisphere(England at least) cricket season is from April - September. No doubt the opposite in the south. The IPL in 2011 was March/April I believe.

I just came into the room with the TV and saw the end of what looked like a promo about a Sportsnet World free preview. There is nothing on this at their or my carrier's website. Anyone know about this?

I'm happy to see that Sportsnet World is showing the Caribbean T20 cricket tournament. As a cricket fan and not a soccer fan, I am happy about the fact there is less going to be less soccer on the channel. I also think it is nice that Rogers is investing time into promoting one of Canada's national teams that isn't getting the press it should.

Loved that first game last night, Gyuana v Leeward Islands. Great to be able to see this tournament. The West Indian players are high quality. Canada is in tough.

Finally, Setanta/SportsnetWorld has made it to HD on SHAW in Alberta. Currently on channel 254. No guide yet. Time to restart my subscription :)

That's was one keeping me on Bell, if they could offer GolTV in HD I'd switch immediately.
