But what about Setanta North America which is the Setanta entity that has a minority ownership interest in Setanta Canada?
I expect that Fox will not buy Setanta North America, only their American assets.

We already have Setanta Canada here, what is the point of Fox Soccer Plus?? Setanta Canada has exclusive coverage of EPL, CL (shared with Sportsnet) & FA Cup, so what is the point of Fox Soccer Plus?! Setanta Canada is MAJORITY owned by Rogers so its not going anywhere, the only thing that may happen is they end up owning 100% of the channel and also a possible name change.

Fox Soccer Plus could potentially show more games from Latin America, which would be a great.

iggy, if Fox had any intention of bringing Fox Soccer + to Canada they would have at least put a bid in for the Canadian EPL rights back in November.

True enough DT1, I forgot about that. If brought to Canada, its possible that they could show more games from Latin America. I know fox shows some Argentine league games.

I'd like more competition for Setanta so that they can drop their price down. Then I would consider subscribing to Setanta. Its just too much for me right now. I know a lot of people who would pay for Setanta if they just dropped their price. I think $15 is too much for one channel.

Anyone know if the new Fox Soccer channel will be part of a sports package or have a price tag similar to what Sentanta had?

You know this doesn't affect Canada?

I have no idea except for internet rumors.....

EPLtalk I believe said that it would probably be $15/m a few weeks ago. Other than that I have read many other blogs/forums that are acting like Fox + will just get added to the sports package.

Other than that I live in Boston. The main cable operator here Comcast already has Fox Soccer Channel in a sports package. I doubt they are going to add Fox Soccer + when they know that people who watch football are going to subscribe to the package with or without Fox Soccer +.

What of Rogers sportsnet buying 380 EPL games for the next 3 years? Will this mean that all games will be broadcast on just sportsnet channels or will it be shared with Rogers owned Setanta? Will it be necessary to keep setanta for EPL?

Will it be necessary to keep setanta for EPL?I think the bulk of the games will continue to be on Setanta - otherwise why would anyone pay $15/month for it? If the channel doesn't have enough EPL to force hardcore fans to pay the big bucks for it then it really has no commercial viability.

Re-pricing of Fox Soccer+, I was in Florida when this changeover from Setanta was taking place and subscription to Fox Soccer+ is $14.99 per month or $4.99 for ian ndividual day.

I heard Fox Soccer + also shows commercials (not during the game) which I guess some people don't like since they are paying $15 but it makes sense to me.

The Setanta logo or the same 2 football academy commercials shown for the past two years is much more annoying than having regular commercials.

So now that EPL Season is over till Augest. Is there any reason to keep Setanta active? Anyone know what they will be showing the next few months?

Some rugby and "classic" EPL games. Not a lot of live stuff I would imagine.

Russian Premier league, non-live GAA, and rugby (Tri-Nations, New Zealand Cup, Currie Cup, Churchill Cup, etc)

Probably a couple international friendlies as teams tune-up for the World Cup over the next couple weeks as well.

There are Super 14 semis and finals over the next few weeks plus Heineken Cup finals. And then there will be the June internationals and Tri-Nations shortly as well. IMHO rugby is a better game to watch than the "other" sport shown on Setanta as it is a hooligan's game played by gentleman rather than a gentleman's game played by hooligans. You don't get rugby players writhing on the ground when an opposing player brushes by them nor do you get the unbelievable protestations to refs that you get in soccer.

The most lucrative game in sports, the Championship playoff final, is on Saturday.

Are all the Gaelic games shown delayed?
