No, doesn't look like it. Earlier The Setanta CAnada site was showing that they would be carrying the England vs Belarus game live on Wedensday, but now they've changed that to a tape delay of the England v. Kazhakstan. In fact the only live game that day is Greece V. Switzerland. woo hoo.

I don't think Setanta is great for live qualifiers, inspite of their promises. :(

Meanwhile Fox Sportworld Canada has to be the most useless channel ever invented---well, unless you like Women's American College Games.
Fox Sports World Canada is a mere shell of its former status. In Canada, they don't have any premier league games. Instead they have numerous US college soccer games (very low interest here..must be a cheap filler) and repeated broadcasts of the amateurish Fox Soccer report (some days there are 12 broadcasts of it...but hey it is Can Con), and they awful Oakley and John Moore shows.

They have some Serie A and Argentenian and b league Mexican games and that is it.

In all honesty, I wouldn't miss it if it were to fold.

WHERE IS THE ENGLAND GAME ppv?????
The England game will be on Tuesday at 19h30 ET.

It is already available live, via torrent, on the BitTorrent programme. I watched it already via the ITV feed of the game.

Well it is with a sad heart that I turned to my Setanta Channel today to see that I had to call my service provider to get the channel. I was with Rogers in New Brunswick and signed up when the channel first became available. After the Rugby World Cup last year I cancelled the channel but for some reason still had access to it (but wasn't paying) until I left. I moved to Newfoundland this summer and my parents were also receiving Setanta for free.

I don't know why I had the priviledge of getting it for free for almost a year but now the dream is over. Now the decision has to be made as to wether or not to shell out the money for it.

Edit: After speaking to a Rogers Rep. apparently all of Newfoundland has been getting it for free as it was an oversight by Rogers......too bad they finally caught on.

For me, i was only interested with FSWC for the Montreal Impacts games. FSWC don't even show MLS games from Fox Soccer Channel. By the way, Setanta Canada will broadcast the entire FA cup coming soon.

I like Setanta Canada because they show a lot magazine shows like the Champions League, English, Scottish and French leagues. They also broadcast live Setanta Sports News especially on saturday night and on sunday afternoon. I hope, in the near future, they will add a lot more canadian content than a few Toronto FC game replays. Also what i don`t like is that they run the same damn ads over and over again. How some updated canadian ads!

why are we still paying the high monthly fee for Setanta ? Are there any price changes coming?

It's a premium channel...it costs as much as other premium channels.

It's not the monthly premium payments that irk me as much as that godawful inane loop they keep playing all the time; the yellow and black frozen screen and the endless identical promos that we have now been subjected to for two seasons; and while all this is going on they have a staff interviewer and guest former players back in the studio presumably doing nothing. I don't get it.

I think this is primarily live broadcasts so might it be that ads are going on in the UK and since we don't have regular type ads hereon Setanta, they are waiting for the broadcast to start up again?

I'm surprised the price hasn't gone up yet!

It's less than four bucks a week. Doesn't seem a lot for all the live games we get. One PPV England game will cost you about $25.00, so maybe Setanta isn't such a bad deal. As for price changes? Somehow I don't think the price will come down. They never do.

For those that might be interested, Setanta does appear to be covering A1GP motor racing again this year. My DVR recorded the Indonesian race a couple of weeks ago. They showed it (both races) live in the middle of the night and then again at the usual timeslot of Monday at 8am.

The next race is in Taupo, New Zealand on January 25th.

Neither the A1GP website nor the Setanta Canada website indicate that Setanta is showing A1GP. I just happened to have my DVR set to autorecord "Auto Racing" from last season.

So far this season, Team Canada hasn't shown up to race at all.

That is exactly the reason..it happens during their interview/magazine shows or during half time in games. When we see the yellow screen and the awful music, it means that there is an ad on in the UK/ROI version of the channel that is UK/ROI specific. It could be worse....it could be that awful leprechaun gushing about the golf course subdivision in North Carolina.

Here in Canada we get tons of Setanta stuff as we get the games that are only shown in the ROI and not Setanta in the UK.

Now if only FSWC could go off the air and Setanta could pick up what is worthwhile from their dismal offerings.

Why is that ?

I bet it is because Setanta holds the ROI but not UK rights for stuff like EPL.

I think it's because the rights to the Premier League as well as some other sports in the UK are split between Setanta and Sky Sports. Setanta has exclusive rights to show the Premier League in Canada (and the USA I believe, but not certain). That's why some of the games shown on Setanta Canada originate from Sky Sports.

That can't be right for some Premier League games that are played on Sunday do not appear on Setanta (Channel 420) but show up on Channel 410.

That can't be right for some Premier League games that are played on Sunday do not appear on Setanta (Channel 420) but show up on Channel 410.Setanta bought exclusive rights but resold the rights for some games to some other channel(s) - I am not sure what channel 410 is as each provider has different channel numbers but I believe it is likley Rogers Sportsnet.

It is The Score who has the Premier League contract for Canada. They have sub-licensed most games to Setanta who has then sub-licensed a few games to Sportsnet.

I still haven't seen a SkySports production of a Premier League game on Setanta. They have shown Sky productions of the Champions League, League Cup, etc.

It just goes to bolster my contention about Setanta and their poor performance when presenting their EPL programming format. The Score, when they present their EPL games on Sundays always have in studio discussions with guests before, at the interval and at full time, none of this tortuous loop of the same 'music' and unlimited repeated promos. Why we have to suffer with Setanta's amateurish stop-gap measures during their telecasts - after a full season and a half - when others demonstrate a more professional approach needs to be addressed and soon.

1. Setanta have studio discussions (better since from uk) when it is their own coverage, also when doing some of the Sky stuff e.g. last week Carling and also when doing Champions League so not really true what is being said.
2. My understanding is that Score did the initial buying then sub-contracted some to Setanta which they further augment with much more. Setanta are 'in bed' with Rogers so they give them a second choice Saturday game and now also give them a further delayed game on Saturday evening.
3. I can add, contrary to previous situation, that Setanta now seem to reply to e-mails fairly quickly so if any questions to be asked they will answer. For example, I have been asking about variable picture quality and they tell me they use a number of carriers (quoted Sky and Pitch) and agree that some are not as good as others. Why Sky, in my view, should be at the bottom end of the spectrum I have no idea.
