Why isn't Setanta showing the Aston Villa vs Liverpool match?

Where's the ****** Villa game? I'm on ExpressVu watching Wolves- Watford!

Whose ****-up is this? ExpressVu or Setanta Canada? I know the Vill agame is not on Setanta in the USA.

I just about gave up and started to watch Final Score on BBC World, but Villa vs. Liverpool is on now.

Ever wonder why there is often a "free preview period" when a new station comes online?

Simple reason. It's like a free trial, to get you interested in buying it.

pool are going to need that, if they keep playing the way they did today, not many clubs are going to help them win by scoring an own goal if you know what I mean mate

The n'castle game was a cracker though. Roll on my gunners against fulham ;)

jacksparrow, I seen a lot of breakups on *choice but they put up a Setanta technical diffuculties and a standby as well. Things are looking good now. Setanta swung the feed during the Newcastle game you had to watch carefully to see it near the end of the 1st half.
Am glued to this channel now guv, it's like being down me local really without the rowdy crowd and the spilling of pints :-)

The question was purely rhetorical. After reading so many complaints about "technical difficulties" it seemed appropriate.

So the programming is differant? Sentana US didn't show liverpool FSC US did. But sentana canada did show it ??

Rogers Sportsnet even showed a game today, I thought they were not showing anything this season ?? Confusing. We need to make a schedule list for games/networks for next weekend

Hello all. I spoke to Roger's Customer Service this morning, and I won't go into specifics on my conversation with 'Neil'. I'll leave that to another thread. Let me just say this: it was the worst experience I've ever had speaking to a call centre. The rep was awful but he will be dealt with.

I am irate since Roger's will basically be giving up the ManU and Chelsea games this season, anything with meat on it basically. They turn around and make a deal with Setanta, taking away what we had for free and are now charging us for it. Sportsnet will get the leftovers, The Score might show 2-3 Chelsea and ManU games at best. Maybe none.

I do not care for Rugby or any of that stuff. All I want is to watch ManU, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea games. They know there are many people like me who like to watch the big 4 and are letting us 'have it'. Particularly Chelsea and ManU fans.

Am I the only one that thinks Canadian soccer fans have been screwed by this whole Setanta thing? I think more and more will get irate as they realize that ManU and Chelsea on Sportsnet HD will be a thing of the past.

I think more and more will get irate as they realize that ManU and Chelsea on Sportsnet HD will be a thing of the past. It's called capitalism - get used to it! Setanta thinks that there are enough Canadians willing to pay a premium price for the programming that they are offering so they can pay more for the Canadian rights to some of these events, such as EPL, Rugby, AFL, etc. If they are wrong then the channel will disappear and we will go back to the way things were.

This is not unlike hockey - you used to get all Leafs games on networks like RSN and TSN. Now you have to subscribe to Leafs TV, a more expensive channel, to get all Leafs games.

I agree with you 100%. This Setanta thing is a massive ripoff. I'm not against capitalism, but the channels are packaged so badly that fans are forced to subscribe at least three if they want to catch the good games. Don't tell me that Sportsnet wasn't making $$ last year by broadcasting the games on basic cable. It's just that they want to make $$$$$. If they'd offered the channel at the same price as GoL or FSC, I'd have gone for it. But $15.00!!!?? Forget it. I hope the thing tanks.

What are you doing in this thread if you don't care about footie then? You are in the wrong pub mate :-)
I thought this thread was about Setanta in Canada and not the EPL in Canada. I am in the right "pub".

**** gaelic soccer or whatever it is...it's all about ausie rules and epl!! AFL all the way. put your gaelic and put it in your pipe and smoke it or whatever.
OK, not sure whats in your pipe but you may want to give it a rest. My preferred sport on this channel appears to differ from yours, but instead of trash talking soccer, I decided to give it a chance.

I watched some of the Liverpool game this afternoon and have to say quality of the broadcast looked so terrible I was amazed. It was so fuzzy, I thought somebody smeared vasoline all over the camera lens.
If this is an example of what the rest of the sports will look like on Setanta, I just saved $15/month.

I can understand why Soccer fans are upset about Setanta. But for fans like myself of Aussie Rules and Rugby it's a godsend. I don't mind paying a premium price to get 3 Live AFL matches/week. We were basically getting no Rugby coverage at all for the past 2 years and no AFL coverage since the start of this year.

I just wish the channel had launched in Widescreen. I find 4:3 channels a little annoying on an HDTV.

My first reason for getting Setanta is, and always will be, the coverage of sport from back home in Australia. We get nothing here, so as others have said, it's a godsend for the likes of me.
On the other hand, those complaining about the fact that we have to pay for 'free' matches now forget that more and more, matches are either being show exclusively on team's tv channels (leafs, raptors, moan u etc), or the rights for them are going up so much, that it's a given that we will be charged for them.
The only thing i'd request for my 15 bucks is hdtv games as much as possible.

I'm afraid it depends more on your HDTV set than on Setanta. The Villa v L'pool game and all the rest of the games looked just fine on my 4.5 year old Sony GWII. The only snag I found during the whole day,( it seemed), of watching the EPL games was the last five minutes of the Sunderland v Spurs game. I have never witnessed so much intermittent break-up of the picture and the frequency of going to black screen. It was obviously the fault of the feed from the satellite and I immediately had my doubts about how Setanta were going to control this kind of occurrence.

after watching Setanta yesterday my advice is if you are a huge soccer fan like myself is to pay for it and enjoy, three live EPL matches on Saturday, one on Sunday, live Ligue 1 matches, delayed SPL, also live Rugby World Cup coming up next month, the first time Aussie Rules football watching it live, didnt know what the heck was going on but it was superb, man those guys are tough, they also carry Irish Hurling, this channel is superb.

For what it carries its definitely gonna be worth the 15 dollars a month price tag, I recall the days of having to scrounge around the papers the next day to maybe find out the soccer of an English game the day before, or watching Graham Leggit giving us highlites on soccer Saturday that were a week old, thank God those days are gone.

Now if they can put it in HD and not give me heart attacks like yesterday, expecting to see my Reds,Gerrad,Torres etc and I get Championship football, life would be perfect.
