: CBC-HD Official Thread (No Hockey)
pjreid 2006-07-28, 02:03 PM I don't recall the Toronto HD station having anything special when it went on air.
In fact I was surprised there was hardly anything mentioned anywhere about it.
Are you kidding? They ran a whole multi-hour special show. Ron McLean hosted it, had an interview with David Suzuki, and showed off an episode of The Nature of Things in HD...can't remember what else they did...but there were a few other highlights that I recall...
Website comments.
1. The HD schedule is still missing some late night movies shown in WS or HD. A couple of days ago Tin Cup was on and not listed.
2. "The One" is still highlighted on the HD web page. May want do delete reference to it...

Ettisl 2006-07-31, 10:14 PM Hi Marc, Any idea whether I will catch the Ottawa feed from the western part of Montreal when it goes live? Any news on the Montreal(Mount-royal) tower?

Can you pick up any of the existing channels from the Camp Fortune Tower (including CBOT)? If you can't then I would say you probably won't be able to pick it up. There are a couple hills just west of Montreal that will probably block the signal. If you have really good elevation or are positioned perfectly to look between the hills, then maybe, but that is unlikely.
Reception is an OTA question that should be discussed in the OTA forum. Thank you.
Roger1818 covered the reception question.
As far as Mount Royal is concerned, there are no changes on the horizon.
I'm outta here for a few weeks. I'll be reading now and then but I won't be posting. I'll catch up with you all later.

Gauss256 2006-08-07, 03:48 PM I'm new to HDTV and was pleasantly surprised to learn that program guide information can be included in the OTA broadcasts. However, CBC-HD in Vancouver just shows generic information in the guide. Are there plans to change this?
On a positive note, yesterday's Nature of Things broadcast (Cuba - Part 2), which I viewed OTA, had the best PQ of anything I've seen on my HDTV yet. It was absolutely stunning. I feel like I've been to Cuba. Can't wait for more like that.
I see CBC posted it's HNIC schedule, but couldn't find the HD sched. Any inside scoops as to whether they will do more than a couple non Toronto games like last year?
stampeder 2006-08-16, 04:37 PM DaveM and other DHCers are reporting CBC-HD and SRC-HD test patterns on their Ottawa OTA channels:

Marc, in case you have time to read, or are back, could you comment on the following thread, where people are wondering about this programme and whether it was shown HD or WS? Thanks.

impronto 2006-09-01, 03:58 PM As of 6am this morning :)
In Nepean and getting 99% signal strength for both with pcHDTV-5500 tuner card for my computer.
Looks great even for SD programming. Can't wait for hockey telecasts.
have you seen any hd programming yet? how does it look
stampeder 2006-09-01, 09:36 PM impronto, if you're asking if its worth the time and effort to get CBC-HD OTA then the answer is yes. The picture quality exceeds satellite and cable by a very noticeable margin. ;)

One word: wow! Come in with DD 5.1.
I'll try to compare the picture with Star Choice on action scenes.

redskull 2006-09-03, 12:44 PM I just noticed on Friday that Nanaland (a childrens puppet show) was in HD.
A lot of the kid's shows are widescreen (not HD). See the listing on the right side of the following link - downloadable pdf.
