Is the actual CBC logo part smaller, but the HD larger? The CBC part is not as objectionable as the HD beside it, which doesn't seem to "fit". (I have a 61" TV and most logos are too large. ;)

Not to go off topic from CBC programming but I believe Finding Nemo will be on ABC in HD in the next few weeks as well (if not the same week as CBC).

According to the Rogers Blue Jays Baseball on CBC - 2007 Broadcast Schedule (http://www.cbc.ca/sports/baseball/broadcast-schedule.html) all the Jays games will be in HD, but other than that, unless something changes, there won't be much sports in HD on CBC this summer.

According to the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007 - Broadcast Schedule (http://www.cbc.ca/sports/fifau20/schedule/), none of the Group matches or Round of 16 matches will be in HD. Only 2 of the quarter final games (the ones in Edmonton and Toronto), both semi-final games, the match for 3rd/4th and the final will be in HD (for a total of 6 games).

According to the Toronto FC - Regular season broadcast schedule (http://www.cbc.ca/sports/torontofc-schedule.html) and the CFL on CBC - 2007 Broadcast Schedule (http://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/cfl-on-cbc/schedule.html), no MLS or CFL games will be in HD, but the the later may change once the season actually starts.

It looks like the CFL schedule has been updated. 20/27 are listed as HD. I can't image the Grey Cup will be SD, so I read it as 21/27.

So when are we going to see some MSL football in HD? Every Toronto FC game has been narrowscreen, let alone SD! The original excuse I was hearing was the shortage of HD trucks because of the Stanley Cup - but that excuse is getting a bit thin.

That was fast! They must have updated it just after I submitted my post. Sure makes me look like a fool.

I agree! It has to be an oversight on their part. Now when are we going to see CBC's third HD truck so that can be 27/27? ;)

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. With baseball, football and the U20 World Cup taking precedence it will probably be a while. I am surprised there haven't been any games in WS though.

This is OT, but you're best chance for MLS in HD is on HDNet.

The PQ for "Finding Nemo" tonight on CBC in HD is simply amazing.

I totally agree on that one. The PQ for Finding Nemo was totally outstanding. I PVR'd the ABC West feed so that I can compare with the CBC feed.

well ya it should be it's an animation. They can render the production on a perfect 1080i format, so that every pixel on your tv as used as fully as it can be

This is OT, but you're best chance for MLS in HD is on HDNet.Not in Canada. HDNet Canada doesn't have rights to air Toronto FC games. Oddly they have aired Toronto FC games on HDNet in the USA while we were subjected to SD here in Canada.

The only chance for widescreen here is if CBC (or Sportsnet) can be bothered. (or the Score ... as if).

I was realy impressed by the whole Nemo 'package'. This was the first time for me to see commercials in HD. Although it was a part of the movie portions rather than the Commercials-segments, the HD promo-commercials for the new movie Ratatouille was some of the best picture quality I have ever seen. It realy left a great impression on me; after it I wondered when the movie opens, but I didn't know as the date was only mentioned in the other SD commercial for the same movie I never even noticed, due to SD quality.
This was surely a great move for the advertiser worth every penny and a very well done job by CBC. Hopefully it will point the importance of HD commercials in future (the only downside is a still low HD penetration in Canada). Last week I was in fact wondering why they downconvert material for a movie such as Ratatouille when making commercials, I understand it is more expensive to exclusively film/make them in HD, but this makes no sense.
From a pointview of a viewer, last week I hardly even noticed the commercial for the Ratatouille, but after seing it in HD (and even seing the whole promo stuff) I just can't wait to see it. Hopefuly, Canadian advertisers, who so far said they are not willing to pay more for HD commercials, will realize this soon.
Impressive and well done.

(also, the promo clips for Nature of Things kept airing all afternoon/evening on saturday saying 'tonight at 7' instead of 'tomorrow')

the only broadcaster in Canada that actually makes use of HD/Widescreen for advertising/promos is surprisingly, CBC-French

Well, yes and no. Computer animation is well suited to digital broadcast, true enough. However, detail is still taken out to get under the HDTV transmission limit. No way is 19.2 Mbit/s sufficient for "every pixel" @ 1920x1080. Like any HDTV broadcast, "Finding Nemo" was compressed. Therefore, comments on picture quality should not be completely discounted.

Given the computer animation source, I was expecting a great picture. CBC delivered. Well done!

I didnt PVR the CBC feed so I cant compare side to side, but it seems to me the ABC feed's picture is a little softer. Anyone else compare?

ABC's picture would be softer wouldn't it? As it's 720p instead of 1080i?
