Yaamon,
Sun tv transmits from cn tower go to their web site check it out, http://suntv.canoe.ca/about_suntv.html.
The other theory I have is OMNI2 and PBS transmits on frequencies next to each other 43(pbs) 44(omni2) and there could be interference.

Omni 1 & 2 digital and analog Omni 2 are on F.C.P..Analog Omni 1(47)on the Cn Tower. All Sun on Cn tower at 458 metres while City is at the top 515 metres.

rob50312,
Any theory as to why i get omni1 and not omni2 other than possible interference in signal between pbs and omni2. If i reposition my antenna slightly to the east I loose pbs and receive omni1 and omni2. All other buffalo and local hdtv reception O.K. before and after reposition of antenna.
Any propositions or theories welcome.

I always though Sun was from First Canadian Place too as signal has always been weaker than City even though it has more broadcast power..

no it's because CITY is at 1700', while SUN is a full 200' lower at 1500' makes a huge difference in reception, especially over here, my antenna is only 8feet above the ground, and this gets city at 50% but nothing on Sun 66 (have to use Hamilton)

rsohal try removing your preamp and splitters.Preamp may overload or adjacent channel problems 43,44?

On low elevation this might be true and if you are at great distance from the Cn tower. The weird thing is that I can clearly see the Observation Deck(Center rings)@1150' of the Cn tower from my roof and the tip where the antenna is being broadcasted from.

I have a clear line of site view to the Cn tower even all the setups that I have done Sun signal is lower than City and they are supossed to have abit more power. If I swing my antenna or the antenna's just a little more west then Sun comes in at max signal.

Yaamon at my house I had to aim my Toronto antenna for city-dt as it was weakest.Sun seems stronger.Their transmitting antennas maybe directional.

Tonyv how high is your antenna mounted? are you using rotor?
I'm having problem getting 43-1 and 69-1 without changing antenna position.
my location 27 & rexdale.

I believe you are missing 4-1 channel.

I live in a single story bungalow and the antenna is mounted on the chimney. So I'll say its about 15-20 feet off the ground and I'm NOT using a rotor.
The house is about 45 years old so there are tall trees all around my place.
Frankly I'm getting pretty weak signals on pretty much all the stations 40-60% range.
43-1 is at about 40%
66 is at about 50%
This might be due my eye ball alignment of the antenna;) . I just pointed the antenna as best I could directly to Buffalo.
I use to pick up 2-1, 2-2 but for some reason I can't anymore.

I thinks I going to pick up a amp and get the wifey to help out with the aligning the antenna.

Tony V if you are going to use a regular cable/tv booster try and add it where the cable comes in.

This way there is not much signal loss yet, and your cable/tv booster will work pretty good.

The booster should bring up that signal towards the 70-80's range.

At 100' feet the best way would be a antenna preamp.

TonyV, not sur what you mean by "eye ball alignment", however there is good info for aiming using google and 2150.com in the OTA Knowledgebase & FAQ: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=362703&postcount=8
If you're using your eyeball try the google measure tool, or if you're using a compass remember to take your local magnetic declination into account (~10 degrees West).
Make sure you are actually pointing to Buffalo.
Are most of those trees loosing their leaves right about now? Might be worth to wait a week :) ......
A lot of OTA'ers might advise against the Source antenna

Yaamon, the 100' of cable has no joints in it, so for me to use a booster that would mean that I need to cut and splice. I really didn't want to do that. So I guess I'll be picking up one of those preamp thingy's.:p
Where would one pick one of those babies up?

I thought I was doing pretty good with this antenna cause I getting pretty much all the channel's.(well at least I think I am:rolleyes: ) The only reason I bought is because I bought the TV on a weekend and couldn't wait to get it going.
I'll try the website and see if I get any better results.

TonyV with a antenna preamp you will see a increase in all your signal strength.

You may have to buy a few attenuators incase you find that one or two channels are being overloaded.

If you find that a channel is pixelating or drop out after you added the preamp, you have to add the attenuators. They come in all different ranges like 3, 6, 8 db etc and can be added in series to increase the the reduction if necessary.

Good luck.

.

I know that feeling!! When I first got my antenna I merely leaned it aginst the chimney for about two weeks until I could do a proper install!

If you find the antenna doesn't give you the results you expect, and you determine another antenna would, check with The Source, they have a really great return policy.

I got a pm from a board member who works with Rogers Media Television (OMNI Engineering) commented about the picture.

http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL83/536944/4741575/196975477.jpg

Hope he does not mind what he quoted me. ;)
"The white vertical antenna on the top of FCP is the transmit antenna for analog OMNI 1 channel 69 along with the OMNI 1 and 2 DTV channels 44 and 64. All siganls are omni-directional."

Thank you for the info. as I thought and knew that Omni DTV was supossed to be broadcasted from First Canadian Place.

Was confused when someone mention Cn tower.

^^ what is it that causes my reception of OMNI1 so much lower than OMNI 2 then?

OMNI2 is an easy 100% no matter what
OMNI1 is 20% max and usually lower. is there some difference in height or power?
