Hi Kevin, phone London Drugs stores to see if they have the Terk ZSS clone in stock. You'll find the model name/number earlier in this thread. I'm sure you'll locate one.

Thanks a bunch Stampeder!,

I've also got a balcony that faces south, so I'm anxious to try some advanced antennas in the future.

I looked up the Terk on London Drugs website (http://www.londondrugs.com/Cultures/en-US/Product+Detail/Electronics.htm?CatalogNavigationBreadCrumbs=Electronics;Ele ctronics;Televisions;Television%20Accessories;Terk%20Indoor% 20HDTV%20Antenna%20-%20HDTVi&CS_Catalog=Electronics&CS_RootCategory=Electronics&CS_Category=Television%20Accessories&CS_ProductID=1189117&ProductTab=1) (I figured I could pick one up when I go home next time) and it seems quite expensive at $70. You can get the Phillips SS Clone from Del (http://accessories.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&cs=CADHS1&sku=A0616974) for $39 which also has rabbit ears for VHF reception. Has anyone tried both to know if one is better than the other?

London Drugs is still way out to lunch on that price! Typically their prices on consumer electronics goods are great, so this is weird. The Philips/Dell unit performs almost identically in UHF, but the Terk at LD has VHF rabbit ears on it too.

I agree. I miss both them and The White Spot here in Ottawa. ;)

Oh you are right. The picture on the LD website has them collapsed so I couldn't see them without looking closely.

London Drugs is a good company and their prices are usually excellent, but as I've said before I cannot believe their markup on ZSS Clones... ridiculous!

Is the one at London Drugs amplfied? If so it it is the same price (in US dollars) at Best Buy in the US. Circuit City sells the Philips equivalent for $50 and an unamplified UHF only one for $25.

I don't believe its amplified - you don't need to plug it in.

Does anyone know if the tuner quality in the ATI TV Wonder 650 is any good? I have this card and I'm only able to get three digital channels (CBC, CTV and CityTV). I'm on the 14th floor of my building in downtown Toronto with a southeast facing balcony and a direct line of sight to the CN Tower. The only antenna I've tried so far is the Source 150-1880.

hemi:

Hello and Welcome to the DHC Forums.

This thread is for the discussion of the Zenith Silver Sensor and clone antenna. The unneccessary quote you included has nothing to do with the topic of your post.

Your post has 3 different topics, none of which relate to the Zenith Silver Sensor.

For the ATI TV Wonder, check this thread:

For reception in downtown Toronto with an indoor antenna, check this thread:

For The Source 150-1880 antenna, check this thread:

clone like this from Princess Auto
I picked up one of these as well, but didn't have any success with it.

Is there a trick to setting it up? or is it a trial and error thing? My tv takes several minutes each time to scan for channels. I take it the narrow end should be aimed at the source?

thx

I belive it is amplified, so make sure you have the power supply connected properly. Without power the amplifier will block the signals.

Total noob question here. I live in central Toronto in an apartment (west facing windows in the TV room). I have a Samsung HDTV with and ATSC tuner. If I get a Silver Sensor is it simply a matter of plugging it in to the coax feed (UHF?) on the of the TV or is there a more involved process? Certainly willing to do the work if I can get CBC hockey on Saturday nights!
