Checking the spec but I dont see it noted... can someone enlighten me on this units capablilites before I spend my $$$ ?

You are referring to the Motorola HD receiver for Shaw? (Sorry, not that familiar with these model #'s yet)

I played with one in FS the other day. You can set the receiver to output HD in 1080i, 720p, 480p or even 480i. One problem is that the receiver doesn't seem to care whether the content is actually broadcast in 1080i or 720p. It seems to just convert whatever it gets to whatever your setting is (and doesn't do it that well, IMO)... I don't *think* it will switch automatically between 720 and 1080i based on the feed it's getting; sort of a downer. :(
