Yup. Agree 100%. Don't want to see two versions of the same movie.

For those that really want fullscreen, that's what the zoom function on your TV is for.

Count me in the OAR rules camp.

The movie "Casablanca" on HD DVD is in its OAR of 4:3 and it is a very good transfer.
I'm going to correct myself. Casablanca's OAR is 1.37:1, not 1.33:1 (4:3). However, I suspect most TV's overscan would not show the tiny black bars on top and bottom. I'll have to re-watch Casablanca today - don't remember seeing them before.

do any 4x3 support hdmi?
Sony XBR 36" (4x3) (there was a 40" model also) CRT supports DVI with HDCP. However real HD is still 16x9 with black bars, only SD is kept in 4x3 with some upconversion. I don't see a reson for an 4x3 movie it will not play as HD even on those TVs.
