Yes there is a promotion for HD upgrade, just go on bell's website and click on offers for currrent subscribers.
It is not really a good promo... simply a refund on the "Rental kit" and free programming for six months. You can (negotiate) get the same on any purchase or rental agreement without threatening to leave..

I've looked around on eBay, but I noticed I wouldn't be saving much over the regular $300 price at Bell World.

The number of ACTIVE receivers on an account can not be greater than 6.

Receivers numbers will always remain on the account even if you called us and mentionned that you are giving away or sold the receivers. As soon as the person you gave or sold the receiver to calls us to activate the receiver we then remove it from your account and put it on the client's account. Transfer could only be done if we have a note on the account mentionning that. There is a 35$ transfer charge for the client who is taking over the receiver.

What could happen when you give or sell a receiver is that the person will call, confirm the info on account and reactivate your receiver on your account (altought we should normally ask the PIN for that, many CSR will do that whithout that confirmation) and they will benefit from the programming YOU are paying. If they order PPV it would then appear on YOUR bill and YOU would have to pay for it.

If receivers do not have card in or card is damaged you have to pay the 69$ charge to get a new one

If card is just outdated, old version then you get it free

I had a 6000 that I sold a year ago and it still shows up on my account (online.) I called and told EV who it was sold to but it's still listed on my account. The CSR even found the buyer's account in the system. Pretty sloppy if you ask me. What's up with that? Even though I thought it was a legitimate sale, that receiver was probably hacked and sold on eBay long ago.

I have sold a few receivers and they seem to be off my account. They don't show up online and I have never been asked about them.

Q, if you sold them and the person who bought them added them to his account, they will be removed from your account.

I want my HD TV most probably this buyer never called us to have it transferred to his (her) account. When talking to you they could have found the other clients account, but weren't supposed, and didn't if they are still on your account remove the receivers. Best way to find out is to call that person and verify with him (her). If you don't they might order PPV from the receiver (which doesn't require a PIN) and YOU will have them on your account

If the receiver has been disactivated the buyer/newowner can't order ppv or watch any TV ever again untill it is reactivted on their account, (a expressvu agent should know that;) . There is a 2700 still listed on my account that I sold a year ago to a guy in alberta, I don't care if it still shows up.

If you call to modify the programming or make a change it is always possible that they reactivate it...i'm not stupid, I know that if the receiver is disable they won't get programming!

If expressvu reactivates it after the owner called to have it disactivated then expressvu are the ones that are stupid are they not? And because the receiver must be plugged in to a phone line to upload movies, if the receiver did get reactivated by accident by expressvu the buyer would have to plug the receiver into a phone jack (why would they if they getting free TV :confused: ) in order for the PPV to get uploaded, if it never got plugged it the old owner would never be charged, and a receiver dialing in from another phone number should raise a flag with expressvu.

So if expressvu (acidentally :eek: )reactived a receiver that a owner had disactivated and informed bell of the transfer to a new buyer, then the old buyer is not responsible for any of the charges...period.

Can someone let me know if a used DISHnet receiver (HDTV) would work on the Bell system? They are selling for low prices on sites like eBay. I am not interested in spending $300+ tax for a 6100 or $600 ++ on a 9200. I'd appreciate some help.

They also had an offering recently, not sure its still valid of a 6100 & 300 for $125.

But to answer you question, no, Bell would not activate the Dish receiver, unless you were luck enough to get a new CSR.

You also need to be aware that the software on that receiver would have to be changed over to Bell too, not a job for a layman.

Some people were able to get bell csr's to add a Dish receiver to bell inventory in the pre nagra 2 days. But the owner still had to remove dish's software and restream at 91 to download bell's software before calling, as a receiver with dish software would not download bell SW, with invoved using a jtag and the jkeys program. Only receiver's with a jtag port were able to be switched (2700 3100 5x00 6000). The 6100 and 9200 as far as I know are not jtag-able, so a owner would have no way of earsing the dish network firmware anyway.

I doubt anyone would be able to have a CSR add a dish receiver anymore. As this is not allowed!

Can you tell me whether the refurb offer was in the GTA? I travel all over Toronto / Mississauga and would buy a used system no problem. (Or am I wasting my $$ on that too if they move to the new MPEG format?)
