There was always a hazy, foggy spot right in the middle of the shot, often blurring out the intended target of the shot. Somebody in the control room obviously was not paying attention.

I think this was inside the lens system...condensation so impossible to clean. Often a little heat on the lens will clean this up. They probably had no spares.

If you like televised PGA Tour golf you'd better make sure you have The Golf Channel, as TSN just lost most of their package starting next January.

Save for the 4 majors and the President's Cup/Ryder Cup, all events will have at least 2 days broadcast only on TGC. Many events will have all 4.

Who doesn't have TGC?

tgc is now digital only for Rogers since they moved the "higly popular" MTV Canada (meeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhh) to take its spot. I believe Shaw also did this

So anyone with Rogers with only analog will not get Round 1 and 2.

Something was real fishy with the digital move and TGC getting the contract and playing real hard ball with TSN......

Does anyone know if Versus/Golfchannel HD has even submitted an approval request to the CRTC yet? I've been searching the CRTC site and can't find anything.

Would love to see early round PGA tour coverage in HD.

If the Golf Channel HD is just a simulcast of the SD service, they probably wont need an application. As for Versus, it will never be available in Canada in either HD or SD because we have OLN from CTV Globe Media

It's a new channel consisting of a mix of programming from Versus and TGC, broadcasted in HD. Perhaps there will be a Canadian HD version?

Would be so nice if something happened and we got the weekday HD golf broadcasts.

Pretty lame TGC wanted so much for the golf contract that they basically locked out TSN. :(

I supose that if Versus and The Golf Channel where launching a shared channel, we could at the very least get The Golf Channel programming in HD in Canada and simply replace or blackout Versus programming in Canada.

For what its worth, TGC HD is broadcasting Round 1 of Buick open today. I believe its first HD golf broadcast.

No where to be found on Canadian tv though. :(

Wow, the coverage of the Buick Invitational in HD looks great! CBS is using all HD cameras, including for aerial views. There doesn't seem to be any SD cams stretched to widescreen. This is the first tournament of the Fed Ex Cup series.

Buffalo CBS took a couple minutes to flip the switch, but Seattle CBS was working from the getgo.

Now, we just need TGC-HD up here and someone to fire Clampett and for CHCH to NEVER get a HD signal. :-)

During the telecast on Sunday Jim Nantz said that all CBS golf coverage this year will be in HD.

Does anyone know if CBS is covering every tournament on the weekends or is it just a select few?

Looks like they are covering at least 20 more. Including The Masters, Canadian Open, and the PGA Championship.
