No problem in Oshawa. Just had to extend the dipoles.

So, maybe it's pointless to look into getting a new antenna just for CTV?
They are on the VHF band... odds are you need a VHF antenna... or a proper preamp that doesn't block VHF signals...

If analog CFTO had relatively clear reception for you before you should be able to receive digital CFTO now with your current setup.

Just may need a little tinkering. I had to extend my dipoles slightly, but otherwise no change regarding CFTO. Obviously your mileage may vary.

Was receiving 9.1 clear with a strong signal - it's only since analog stopped broadcasting that I've lost CTV - coincidental?

Miller bob, CTV moved its digital broadcast to a relatively low powered VHF channel.

I'm having problems with it too.
@miller_bob you seem to have missed his post. it's when the analog stopped broadcasting that CFTO switched to the low-power VHF broadcast

Got that, thanks - so how were they broadcasting digitally when their analog was still up?

Is there anybody who lives in Northwest side Mississauga, and has some luck to lock CKVR Channel 10 or WBBZ Channel 7?

I just wonder whether it's worthy to invest a VHF-High antenna to get either of those two.

Thanks,

The temporary station (if you can call 6 years "temporary") was on UHF channel 40 (which is now unoccupied).

miller bob...am getting CFTO loud and clear on my CS5 (mounted indoors). CHCH is finicky, I have to aim it south west, towards Stoney Creek (which I luckily have a window facing), it's fine. I cannot receive WBBZ, or CTV2 from Barrie. I am using a CS2 (mounted indoors) for my UHF and it is a marvel!

In more or less one fowl swoop CFTO dropped digital on RF 40, dropped analog on RF 9 and brought up digital on RF 9. So when you lost analog RF 9 you also lost digital RF 40 and your tv got confused.

Hello Miller Bob,

First off you may be receiving to strong of a signal and your AGC in your TV tuner is cut off the signal to channel 9.

I have suggestion you might want to try, induce some attenuation in series with your receiving antenna and TV. If you don’t have an attenuator, you can use a splitter to attenuate the signal. BTW what antenna do you have and where are you located in Mississauga? Other details of your setup etc.?

One thing I have noticed especially during Tropo effects that some tuners can be overloaded and automatically cut the signal. I am still testing my overall array and I won't be completed for awhile yet. At this time I have too many variables to deal with and still trying to make sense of all the effects of the digital switch over.

Hope this helps!

Has anyone in Mississauga scanned in CTV Two from Barrie yet on Virtual channel 3.1? If so, what is your location and what is your set-up?

wire in the sky...no luck at my location...am picking up CFTO and CHCH only on my C5 mounted indoors facing out a window to the southwest.

Wire I am receiving CKVR at 72% with my homemade yagi in the attic.I am at Derry and Winston Churchill.

CKVR wouldn't work for me until I purchased a Yagi for Hi VHF. When aimed towards their transmitter I get full 10/10 bars. My only problem is that I cant seem to find a sweet spot that will give me both CHCH and CKVR at the same time.

Getting occasional studders and signal dropped to 40% this afternoon.Clearly CKVR needs more power to match analog coverage.

I have lost both WGRZ (2.1, 2.2, 2.3) and WNYO (49.1, 49.2) from Buffalo this evening. I have never had an issue with WNYO, but lately WGRZ has been hit an miss. Any thoughts as to why I'm no longer receiving? All the other Buffalo stations are coming in loud and clear. (I do not receive ION or WBBZ).

No doubt the cooler weather is playing a role in reception of Buffalo stations...

rob50312: That's not going to happen. And even if it did, I have my doubts that many near the lake would see an improvement, given that the elevation slopes down towards it.

We'll have to be patient for channel 35 Hamilton to fire up (CKVR repeater). Likely sometime early in the new year.
