Happy to be receiving CHCH again after purchasing a CS5. I have it paired with a CS2 (indoors). FYI, the CS5 is HUGE!

I did a small antenna reposition and a rescan this morning. I am using both a Clearstream 2 & Clearstream 5 indoors. I now seem to be picking up ION which I have only picked up on TROPO previously. It was there this morning at around 11, and when I returned home from work this evening abour 7:30 it was still there.

Hmmm...just realized I'm no longer getting OMNI1. I have OMNI 2 on 69.2. I'm receiving CITY on 57.1 and 44.1. What channel should I be receiving OMNI2 on?

Just did a rescan. 57-1 there twice (expect one to drop after midnight). 2-1, 2-2 and 2-3 not there (have received them in the past), but for the first time I picked up a Rochester station - 8-1. Signal strength 56%.

I am in northwest Caledon with an 18 year old Channel Master on a 50' tower with rotor. Added a CM 7777 last year.

spidey9999...I have been have some issues on 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 yesterday and today. After some rescan it's not there, then after another it is. You will probably get it back on another rescan. I've had no trouble with it this evening, however. I have rescanned a couple times tonight.

Well, I've lost ION. I guess it was a 10 hour tropo event. That is so disappointing!

Thanks vap57. 51-1, 2 and 3 were gone and are now back. 8-1 is gone. Still not receiving 2-1, 2 and 3.

I am not getting Channel 9 now. I received it briefly this morning. I have done several scans.

I am in central Mississauga with a third-story attic antenna. There are buildings in my line of sight to the the CN Tower. I do not have a pre-amp. The coax travels from the attic to the basement and back up using the Rogers cable wiring. There are no wonky connections.

I have a Channel Master 4221 HD. I bought it in July at Save & Replay based on a recommendation on these forums. I didn't know anything about OTA HD then. I told them that I was only concerned with receiving the Toronto channels (for news). I said money was not a major concern. I was prepared to get the eight-bay 4228, but they said the four-bay unit would be enough. We discussed the digital change-over and that some channels would likely get better. I am surprised they didn't mention the VHF-UHF issue.

Prior to the digital switch-over, I received analog 9, but not great. Digital 9-1 was strong and consistent. I get CBC, Global, TVO, SunTV and others no problem.

So, what's my best best at this point in terms of hardware I need to buy?

Cheers, Bill.

Are you north of Dundas or south of Dundas? Elevation plays a pretty big role in terms of receiving signals. I'm up at Erin Mills Parkway and Britannia and have no issues with any of the Toronto locals. Having said that, my antenna an 8-bay (Winegard PR-8800) mounted outside about 30' above ground. Attic antennas can be problematic but I can understand there may be installation limitations (spousal?) you need to consider.

If you're looking for another antenna I understand the Antennas Direct C5 is excellent for VHF-hi (channels 7-13). That will surely do the job for CFTO and possible other VHF-hi channels (CHCH, CKVR, CKCO). Save and Replay carries it but given what's happened over the past 48 hours they may be experiencing a run on them!

Also consider the YA-1713. It got me WBBZ, which I never recieved before. Save and Replay just got them in stock. It's specifically for VHF Hi 7-13. I also can pickup CHCH, CKVR and CKCO when I aim in the right direction.

I live in west Mississauga in the Collegeway and Winston Churchill area. I did a channel scan yesterday on my Samsung LNA850 and it picked up 46 digital channels. Must be some interesting tropo effects going on as I can pick up Rochester channels.

What is interesting is channels 21-1, 21-2, and 21-3 have been coming in at 100% since yesterday - is this a result of the change over?

Here is what is odd. With the samsung it does not pick up 11-1 at all, but when I do a terrestrial scan with my viewsat HD9000 it picks it up and shows it coming in at 100%. With the hd9000 you can set the freq start and end to scan, whereas with the samsung it appears to be all automatic - you can set anything for channel scanning?

Another oddity is I am now getting 2 41.1 showing up with samsung, one has only 1 bar and the other fluctuating between 5 and 7 bars?

I also lost 44-1 (onmi) with the samsung but get it with the hd9000 - very odd?

Note I have a hacked 4221HD mounted about 35'-40' up on the roof.

Has anyone else in Mississauga been able to pick-up 11-1 with a samsung?

Thanks,
Steve

When CTV switched over, completely lost the 9.1 digital signal comes in @ 0 - also haven't been able to pick up CHCH for a while now. Being in Mississauga, shouldn't be a prob - will be investigating getting another antenna. City, Global & all the Buffalo stns come in clear & strong - don't know what happened to CTV?

Miller bob, CTV moved its digital broadcast to a relatively low powered VHF channel.

I'm having problems with it too.

So, maybe it's pointless to look into getting a new antenna just for CTV?
