Ralf, if the hacks don't work for you, and your into DIY'ing your own antenna, I can honestly say that the VHF-Loop is a fine specimen, and actually quite easy to build. You should have no problems with VHF-9 with that antenna

Might be the benefit of the recent times (analogs gone, CKXT-2 gone), or weather related, but WNYO has become stable, always locked in for my location...

Hi Guys,

Is anyone in the Brantford area having issues with CKCO? A couple of days ago, I lost CKCO....signal strength is pretty high (60%), but signal quality is 0%.

It came back in last night, but is gone again. I haven't had any issues until a couple of days ago with this channel - it has always been very stable/reliable.

I do pick it up off the back, as I do with quite a few other channels.

Update....a couple other stable channels are wonky as well (20.1 CBC for example)...must be tropo induced as there is some forecast.

I got both channels back today......last nights tropo killed them for me, though I picked up some other topo only channels last night (WNED 17.x/subs,WNYO 49.x/subs and ION 51.x/subs).

Well now that CKCO (13) and CBC (20) is back, I have completely lost City (31) - one of my strongest channels.

0% signal/0% quality - I'm thinking this must be a transmitter issue.

City 31 from the tower situated between Woodstock and Ingersoll has been missing for me since at least sometime last night. But I'm finally picking up City 57 from Toronto. Coming in at 80%.

I've never had a problem receiving 13 CKCO from Kitchener, other than their pillar boxed local newscasts.

Last night I would lose 6 Global from the tower north of Paris. I actually had to rotate the antenna directly toward the tower, where usually I'd practically pick up the signal no matter which direction it was facing.

Still zilch for 31. Not even a hit that it's out there.

I am south of Brantford, 7 miles from Waterford.
57-1 from Toronto is receiving at about 50%+ a good enough signal for reception.

My 4221HD stack is fixed (no rotor), aimed mid way between TO and Buffalo, so 57.1 won't work for me.

I get City (31) off the back of the stack from Woodstock (at least i did until last night).

Spotty Reception for me the last few days.....

Buffalo channels have become unstable, and I even lost CBC (20) out of Toronto. Had to re-aim the stack towards TO to pick up CBC (which results in losing Buffalo, except 26).

Worst reception I've had since I went OTA. Tropo charts show there should be some in S.Ontario, but it's working in reverse for me.

Anyone else seeing similar reception?

Happy New Year to all....

For sure , the last few days have been different than what is normal. I had trouble receiving CFTO channel 9 yesterday. This morning Channel 31 City is gone, not even a sniff of a signal. However, did get some tropo channels coming in last night that I had never seen before but they are gone this morning. I have had no issues with Buffalo and CBC is solid.

Good evening,
Anyone else having trouble with WUTV (29-1) tonight. It's usually stable in my location, however, I cannot even lock in a watchable signal tonight.

Just mounted my channel master 4228 Hd this morning. Initial setup on TV identified 22 channels despite my poor initial attempt at aiming. I was trying to get Buffalo stations but I am aimed too far south. I am getting stations like WKBW (74 miles away). I am still getting all local and Toronto stations despite my being aimed almost opposite their transmittors with a directional antenna.

I am really pleased with initial results. I have no pre-amp or anything, just the antenna right into my panasonic plasma through 75 feet of cable. Will definitely be doing some tweeking in hopes of kicking cable out of my life.

Welcome to the forum deejer!

Glad to hear you are getting plenty of channels.

I have found there is no need to have a Toronto (aimed) antenna now that the digital transmission is complete. Just have an antenna aimed to Buffalo and all the TOs are strong enough that they are caught on the side or back of the antenna. If you are feeding more than one TV you might want to consider using a powered distribution amp that is very easy to install.

Cheers!

I guess the NHL playoffs are not to be watched this year?

I cannot get any CBC channels since the transition.

I pay for the CBC with my tax dollars and I cannot even use it... Canada at it best...

Here is my TV fool.

Hello all,

This is driving me crazy. My Sharp Aquos LC42D62U will not pick up a single signal on CH search with an indoor RCA ANT1400 (not amplified, omnidirectional)... Anetnna Setup-DIGITAL is greyed out.

All google searches i've found say that it will be enabled if/when a Digital signal is found. I live in downtown/west Hamilton (Dundurn/Aberdeen area) with the TV on the ground floor and figure i should get SOMETHING on an indoor antenna. I've done several CH searches, adjusting the antenna position on different days but there is barely a change in the snow throughout the search.

Should I try an amplified antenna for the TV to sense the input? could anyone recommend an alternate indoor antenna? Is it the TV - some digital switch I can't find? It seems though to be a fairly common problem with the Aquos line (of course, I may as well just burn the manual for all the insight it provides - Antenna instruction page is even less informative).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure you have AIR selected and not CABLE.

For Digital Channels, AIR uses the ATSC tuner and CABLE uses the QAM tuner.
