: Problem comp/or tv ??
ilovemusic 2005-12-24, 06:31 AM Not sure where to post this, as it involved my computer and a new tv we bought
but here goes Everytime I turn on my computer the tv signal in the rec room goes a bit fuzzy, this lasts for the length of time that my computer is running , the minute i shut my computer down the signal goes back to crystal clear.....
We just bought this tv at Walmart ,and i don't believe our other tv did this
we have changed power bars, changed the power cord going back into the tower ....... and it still happens
hubby thought it was a ground problem but can't find it....
anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this?? or how to fix it
sleemo 2005-12-24, 07:20 AM Moved your post here as it really isn't a computer specific problem.
It might be a home wiring problem or a TV problem? Does the TV go fuzzy if you're playing back a DVD or video tape?
What make TV did you get? Was the old TV a "better" brand name? If you got one of the cheap brand name Walmart TVs, maybe you should consider returning it?
ilovemusic 2005-12-24, 07:33 AM Hi
No the DVD playback is not effected what so ever, Just the tv picture , as I mentioned when i turn my computer on the tv gets fuzzy it stays that way until i shut down my computer
we bought a new surger protector also and it didnt make any difference and with all the other steps we tried... we are at a loss
the TV is a Sanyo and hubby bought it at Walmart... I'll have to check and see what model it is
The reason I'm thinking it is a cheapy tv is because we never had this problem prior with our other tv, (which is now in my sons room)
I don't think i will get my hubby to return the tv as he loves the size of the screne and the price was right for him ....:-(
brown 2005-12-24, 09:03 AM It sounds like interference from speakers.
Nemnoch 2005-12-24, 10:24 AM what type of internet do you use? if it is cable based you might want to by a surge protector with a line cleaner in it. sometimes depeding on the tv and the computer that you have they can cause interference between the two...
try changing the filter/surge protector on the computer at the same time.
not a definate answer (especially if you have dsl) but it could help.
nem, who tries to offer a solution
sleemo 2005-12-24, 10:33 AM If DVD video isn't affected, I'm wondering if the problem comes from your TV cable. Could the computer be generating some kind of noise that's going into the cable? Are you using cable Internet? If you are, try disconnecting the cable Internet from your PC and then turn the PC on.
ilovemusic 2005-12-24, 11:12 AM Yeah we checked the cable internet yesterday ,unplugging it and the problem is still there,
ilovemusic 2005-12-24, 11:18 AM what type of internet do you use? if it is cable based you might want to by a surge protector with a line cleaner in it. sometimes depeding on the tv and the computer that you have they can cause interference between the two...
try changing the filter/surge protector on the computer at the same time
We are using cable internet (cogeco), we went to Canadian tire , picked up a 50 dollar surge protector(had a line cleaner in it) brought it home hooked everything up and it still did it!! It has me baffled , I wonder if there is a filter or something you can buy...
thing is I have absolutely NO where else to move my computer too if I had too in the first place, I dunno but i think it is the tv we just bought, our other tv was a GE and it worked fine and never once did my comp cause interference with it.... still hubby is going to do try checking all the grounds again, he said maybe he missed it
Nemnoch 2005-12-25, 03:04 PM try unplugging everything from the plug you currently have the computer in and run a long extention cord to the opposite end of the house. plug it in, fire up the computer and see if it still does it.
nem, who says try it and he will tell you why later

brown 2005-12-30, 10:03 AM Switch the tv's. Does it (bad tv) still do that? Does the 'good' tv now have the same problem?
ilovemusic 2006-01-04, 08:50 AM Hello all
thankyou all for your help, To update you on our delima we did find the source of the problem... it was from another (second) receiever 5.1 that hubby hooked up just for the tv , / so that if we decided to watch a movie on the tv instead of through the projector screne ....
he unhooked the second receiver and voila .... problem went away :-)
Maybe I can talk him into selling that receiver, we don't need it , and it is just taking up space
