i cant get tmnod to come on, it says its busy and to wait 5 min and try again, happened twice last night and once the night before. damn rogers sent out the post card notice that tmnod is now available and everybody wants it. Me thinks they might need a bigger server.

Anyone else having problems.

Yes. I had that "initializing" problem last night as well. And of course it was fine this morning.

I had 4 error messages on mine. I called my contact in Moncton asking him what was going on. Apparently, they did an upgrade earlier this week and it screwed up many boxes (read all NB boxes) so if they didn't find the problem, they were to revert back to the pre-upgrade status. I would say this is what they did.

Now here is one that will either make you laugh or pi$$ you off even more...I just can't believe it but it sure hell doesn't surprise me.

Remember 2 or 3 months ago, NB was out of 6208's? Remember I posted somehwere that ROGERS had to find a supplier to get more 6208's in a flash? Well here is where they got them:
We had many dual tuners in stock in NB (video stores and the warehouses had them stockpiled ready to be distributed for christmas) but due to a major glitch with the headend and the boxes, they decided to sell all the dual tuners in order to get 6208s ASAP. The people that bought the dual tuners were more than happy to do so cause their customers were returning the 6208's by masses and slowly, they were running out of dual tuners. When they were approached by ROGERS to do a "swap" so to speak, they were selling their stocks of 6208's in exchange to the ROGERS dual tuners (ours :(). ROGERS was then able to promote "We Now Have 6208's In Stock" while the other company were pleasing their customers by promoting their newly aquired 6412's.

Now they are still testing the dual tuner in Moncton's headquarters and one of the main booboos coming up is the box shuts down for no reason, resets itself and doesn't always want to let the dual tuner kick in. I asked if we'd expect them soon and he said he has no clue as to when. This time, it's the hardest thing to make a prediction on the 6412.

I also asked about all these HD channels being duplicated and triplicated on same channels. He said they are being tested and chances are, they will be more HD timeshifting channels.

Well that's all I have for today. Sorry about the 6412 story but it is afterall, the time of the year when we have to give and share the joy. I just hope NS appreciates it well because the new distributer of the 6208 was in fact, Eastlink.

Considering other providers have the Motorola dual-tuners currently operational on their systems I don't understand why Rogers is having such a difficult time. Swallow your pride, pick up a phone and ask for help. This is ridiculous.

This is just retarded...

I guess I will have to crumble and get a second 6208...

P.S. -- I have NO access to ANY ROD/VOD/TMNOD. I am NOT a happy customer...

I may settle for a 6200 to go with my 6208. It's watching another channel while it's recording that I would appreciate. I can do this by routing a 2nd coax to my TV's Antenna in, but no digital this way. Is it worth $15/month??

I'm thinking in getting myself a DVD recorder. It is kinda mind boggling as to why the 6412 doesn't work here but with a software change, Eastlink are using our boxes....I really am lost for words.

I couldn't access TMNOD tonight with a different failure.

Now.. it would enter a screen with a single frame of video.. small square.. upper right corner .. frozen.

And that video would match the audio I was hearing while on the TMNOD screens. So if I was hearing audio of a trailer for the movie "OVERBOARD" then that small square would be a frozen square of the video from the trailer for that movie.

Interesting.. if a little bit annoying.

I have reinitialized my box.. but all day yesterday my TMNOD features didn't work on either STB (the 2500 or the 6208)

Anyone else having those probs?

My 2 boxes have 2 errors coming up. We wanted to watch TMNOD so badly today while waiting the storm out. Guess we'll have to wait tomorrow....

Thanks for the update on the 6412 Dan.

I ask everytime I call in, but most of the CSR don't have a clue - another one told me today that the dual tuners have been available for more than a year (Ontario rep of course). I agree with everyone else this is retarded, which is why I've bought a HTPC with a built in PVR function - so will have the 6208 and the PC....

As for VOD - here in Moncton - it's working fine - haven't had any glitches.

You're welcome.
I haven't tried my VOD this morning. I was up at 7:30 to get my boxing day sale shopping. I bought the Cyberhome DVD recorder and the XM satellite radio. The DVD recorder does what's it supposed to do and there is one thing I haven't tried with it yet. It has firewire input on the front and would like to get a certain program off the 6208. I know I can get it on my computer but it's a pain in the arse to lug it in the livingroom. If this recorder does it flawlessly, I'll be some happy for the price I paid for it...94$ before taxes.

Still no TMNOD in Fredericton... at my place.

Dan, if this works, start a new thread telling the world!!!

Because...

All the research that I have done on the FW port on these stand alone PVRs is that the FW port is ONLY compatible with digital video cameras. And as I tried hooking my parents DV cam up to my 6208 and there was nothing displayed on the DV cam, I would figure they are not just blowing smoke up my 'ahem'.

Ok.. so TMNOD worked exactly 32 hours for me last week and hasn't worked since. If I don't get the INITIALIZING TRY AGAIN IN A FEW MINUTES error, then I get a black screen on the 2500 and a black screen with a small 'freeze frame' of video in the corner of the 6208.

I called Rogers cable repair tonight 870-7798 and opened an issue ticket..
ISR 00062123.

*sigh*

TMNOD was working alright for us last night...haven't tried it tonight though.

As for the FW of my DVD recorder, bad news. The software inside is like a video capture card: it wants to access the playback of a DV camera. I can get it to recognize "something" is plugged into it but it doesn't see the 6208 as a 6208.

I did record what I wanted through the S-Video input. Quality wise, it isn't bad at all.

As for the TMNOD, I got my wife hooked on it now. She gets po'd when it doesn't work!!!

Worked last night but this morning, it had a hiccup for a moment. It gave me the Initializing error then I got out of it, went back in and it worked. Very weird...

Which is different from before when it was E1006 - Initializing ..Please try again in a few minutes.

Spoke to Rogers about it. Tech is coming tomorrow.
