Thanks for the tip. I heard that his soups were coming to Ottawa, but I didn't realize that they'd already arrived. I'm going to make a point of sampling one over the holidays, just to see what all the fuss is about.

I drove across town to Bayshore today to sample The Original Soup Man (http://www.originalsoupman.com/)'s wares.

The kiosk wasn't busy at all, so the service was quick and I didn't get yelled at. :p

The soups are available in three different sizes - cup, bowl and liter - and each soup comes with a generous piece of baguette, a tangerine, a small chocolate, a spoon and a napkin. But they're not cheap: a bowl of lentil soup costs $6.99; a bowl of Mulligatawny costs $7.99; and a cup of lobster bisque costs $8.49!

I had a bowl of lentil soup and I was rather impressed: it was quite delicious! So I picked some up for dinner: a bowl of lentil for my wife (she enjoys lentil dishes) and a bowl of Mulligatawny plus a cup of lobster bisque for myself. (Total: $27! :o ) So far I've only had the lobster bisque, but it was incredible!

That being said, I probably wouldn't drive across town again just for a bowl of Soup Nazi soup, but the next time I'm in the area... :)

My wife enjoyed the lentil soup - she commented that it tasted home-made - and I found the Mulligatawny to be a little salty but nicely curried and very hearty.

"No soup for you!"
