I purchased a DVI 2x1 switch from DVI Gear http://www2.dvigear.com/dvi2x1switcher.html. Connected on the input side is my HTPC & my 9200, outputting to my projector. When ever I switch away from my 9200 to the HTPC and back again nothing is displayed except a small window at the bottom of the screen "DVI-Searching". The only way I have found to restore the signal is to go into the setup screen of the 9200 & change the HD settings from 720p to 1080i then back again to 720p and that seems to allow it to do a handshake again with the PJ and I get a picture. I have tried switching the inputs ports my two sources plug into on the switch but that does not make a difference. Switching does not affect the HTPC, it reacquires signal as soon as I switch back. Powering off the 9200 or the PJ does not cause the problem it is only when I switch the DVI switcher the problem shows up. Since the HTPC switches fine no matter which of the two inputs it is plugged into I am not sure if the problem is with the 9200 or the DVI switcher.
Anyone out there with similar issues and possible solutions?
Thanks in advance.

The problem stems from the fact you are converting the HDMI output of the 9200 to DVI to run through the switch. It has to do with the HDCP handshaking between the source and the display. Your PC does not use HDCP so the signal is let through without any verification. Your test of changing the resolution confirms this as there is an HDCP hand shaking process going on between the 9200 and the projector. When you switch back to the PC this isn't required and so you don't lose the signal. If you had another device such as an upconverting DVD player with a DVI or HDMI output to replace the PC on the other input to the switch could prove whether it is the switch or the 9200.

I'm having pretty much the same problem except I'm manually switching between the 9200 and a HR10-250 from Directv and using a LCD TV. The Directv receiver which is hooked up the same way as the 9200(HDMI to DVI) has no trouble with the switching while the 9200 brings up the searching display screen.
So I'm guessing the issue is with the 9200.
I had the same problem when I first purchased my 9200; if it's the same issue, the problem is actually the switch (not the HDMI to DVI conversion or the 9200).
I was using a GeFen 2x1 DVI switch for about a year - worked great with my 6100 and Denon DVD player but stopped working when I installed the 9200. It turned out the switch was not HDCP compliant - worked with a simple pass-through but couldn't deal with the more complex handshaking.
When I called the customer support line the guy identified the problem right away and offered to replace the boards in my existing switch at a reduced price so that I did not have to purchase an entirely new switch. When I received the new switch (which was only about a year newer than the one I had) it worked right out of the box.
This is basically what I'm using today: http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=1819
Hope that helps.

I have a Gefen 4x1 DVI switcher, and have the problem you describe some of the time
http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=1990
I agree with the other posters that it likely is related to DHCP recognition issues
I have tried two things that seem to help
THe first option is to change channels on the 9200 whenever you are confronted with the blank screen, but use three specific channels as follows
an SD channel - I use CNN - 500
a 720p channel - ABC HD
a 1080i channel - CBS HD
I find that the 9200 will sync for me almost always if I change amongst these 3 channels, waiting about 5 sec on each
I assume that since the 9200 is about to change output format, it expects a new handshake, and so will sync again
The second option is with your HTPC, enable an output that is specifically DHCP compliant - ATI cards allow this, at least with Powerstrip - this seems to improve switching between the two inputs
