The following info via two Digital Messages on our 6412: TSN HD "World Juniors" free trial ends Jan. 5th
HD Plus free trial now ends Jan. 9th
National Geographic HD and Showcase HD free trials end Jan. 15th
Extension for each one! Welcome news indeed.

In case anyone is wondering ;), World Juniors Gold Medal game is scheduled for the 5th. Nice little Christmas present from Shaw to ensure the whole tournament is included.

My QAM Tuner is now showing KCTS-HD (PBS Seattle HD on 111-1). It has the Big KCTS HD bug in the corner.

I find their bug annoying on their SC channel. I keep meaning to write them and ask if they can't make it a little larger, since I can still see some of the picture. ;)

I would prefer to keep KSPS HD, since their bug is not so glaring and is quite translucent.

I got the message on my 6412, as well as my 2500's, but I don't have the channels yet. Anybody else experience this?? I would love to watch the juniors bring home gold in HD. I'm in Thunder Bay BTW.

Thanks.

Same message in Cranbrook, and we still have only 6 HD channels.
They must have sent it to every customer in Shaw-land.

Interesting! How long has it been like that? Or, do you see them in the Guide now?

I just phoned SHAW, and they told me it wasn't available in Thunder Bay, due to limited Bandwidth. I tried the manual entry earlier, and no go. Just tried it again and no go. I guess the junior will be on TSNHD though, so at least I get that...

It has been like that since I got the channels. If I select the HD icon in the quick launch menu (the one with the three hd listing options, by time, channel, etc...) they do not come up. But, if I go into the full menu, and go listings by channel, I can get the listings.

I've noticed the listing for this channel on Movie Central's web site, does anybody know if Shaw will be carrying this channel?

Unless someone knows something, MC2 will probably not be offered in the near future.
We've discussed this on other threads. How can a Shaw owned company's channel not be on Shaw/Starchoice?!?

Yep, BEV and SaskTel have MC2~HD.

Every other provider has MC1~HD.

But even though Shaw owns Corus, they have to run as separate companies.

Same with SC. SC has to be independent from Shaw cable (hence you could never bundle SC with Shaw services).

So I think that could be part of the reason.

Keep in mind that MC HD2 offers no additional content. Given bandwidth constraints, I'd much rather have unique content.

The real problem with MC HD is their failure to obtain many HD movies that TMN has provided to Eastern Canada. The list of omissions is rather lengthy...as shown here, and in this thread (which also talks about HD1 and HD2).

Just got an email back from Shaw. I was inquiring about the second feed of MCHD and how Star Choice offers the new HD channels such as NGHD and SCHD at no extra charge. Here is their response.

Thank you for contacting Shaw Eservice. We apologize for the delay in response as a result of higher than normal email volumes and thank you for your patience.

We understand that Movie Central is currently only offering one Movie Central HD channel as a value-added service when customer subscribe to Movie Central 4 services.

We are pleased to advise that ABC HD, CBS HD, NBC HD, CBC HD, FOX HD, and PBS HD will still be complimentary until further notice (subject to change).

We hope this information has been useful to you. Please feel free to contact us by phone 604-629-8888 24hrs/7 days a week or by email response. If you need further assistance you may also visit our website at http://www.Shaw.ca/.

Thank you for choosing Shaw!

It sounds like they may be eventually charging for all HD channels.
