I still only have 301 to 313 in HD. What is on the new channels that you have?

KCTSD
WWJD
WXYZD
WDIVID
WJBKD

these are the ones i dont think were there before, they all look like fox channels, it looks like they moved A&e and discovery down and dumped those ones in the middle, they all look like fox channels except 1.

Maybe its a staff trial, then launch to customers after a month

Maybe they are new US timeshift channels (like FOX East in HD). A Shaw technician told me they would be adding some eventually.

I know that WXYZ is ABC Detroit & WDIV is NBC Detroit. Not sure of the others but they're likely Detroit stations as well.

Eastern HD timeshifts from Shaw?

Very cool.

WXYZ - DT = ABC Detroit ~ HD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WXYZ-TV)
WDIV - DT = NBC Detroit ~ HD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WDIV)
WJBK - DT = FOX Detorit ~ HD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WJBK)

Your welcome...

Strange thing is the PBS listed is Seattle, and the there is no WTVS - DT = PBS Detroit ~ HD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WTVS) listed

BTW my uncle who works for Shaw in Wpg. is getting the Seattle nets in HD.

I think Showcase HD and National Geographic HD are launching tomorrow (December 19th) but we'll see if they add them right away.

I'm still waiting to hear what their plans are regarding HD-NET Canada. Rogers includes HD-NET as part of their version of "HD Plus" package and Bell Expressvu has it too.

With Showcase starting tomorrow, we will be getting another timeshift...
Attention West Coast Viewers
Unlike our standard definition broadcast which has both east and west coast feeds, Showcase HD has only one feed. All Showcase HD air times are listed in Eastern Standard Time (EST). West coast viewers should keep this difference in mind to avoid missing out on their favorite Showcase programming.

Are they adding East Coast USA HD Timeshifts in order to bulk up the $9 HD package? or just testing bandwidth with employee guinea pigs?

I'm really hoping for more HD for all.

Eastern HD timeshifts would be so awesome!

Couldn't agree more! HD Eastern Time Shifts would almost make the HD package worth the extra $9.

Although I wouln't mind eastern timeshifts, I would rather that Shaw add some new channels first. I can use my pvr at the moment to shift programing around...

So Shaw has CTV East & CTV Vancouver on most cities.

And they have either CBC Vancouver HD in Vancouver or CBC Toronto HD elsewhere.

Now how come neither Shaw or Star Choice has Global HD....

OR more importantly Citytv HD, to be able to have CW shows in Hi-def...

As has been discussed before...
Shaw really only uses CANCOM (Starchoice) to source their HD programming.

Since there is a lack of transponder space on Starchoice, no more HD channels (CW / HDNet, etc.) can be added until some room is opened up and contracts are signed. Another stumbling block is that Cancom is basically making any new stations pay for the cost of transmission if they want to be added. Transponder space for HD is ~$2 million.

Bandwidth is now here for large markets, but sadly the only channels that Starchoice has and Shaw doesn't is the East coast timeshifts and SRC (CBC French).

CTV Vancouver HD is only in Vancouver. Thankfully. Most of their programming is already available on the West coast feeds of ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC. Vancouver HD wouldn't add much other than taking up bandwidth (thereby reducing the quality of existing channels). And possibly subject us to sim-subs. At least the East coast version provides a time shift.

Global HD would definitely give us sim-sub problems. See "HD on Global not HD?" from the "What's on HD" forum. Here's a snippet from another thread. Or this one. Global seems to be more aggressive with sim-subbing, even when they don't sent a comparable signal. Thankfully, we don't have that problem because there's no Global HD on Shaw. Yet...

From my perspective, the longer Shaw can avoid HD sim-subs, the better.

Agreed. The longer we can hold off on getting Global HD, the better.

That god. Im glad that timeshifts are coming soon to SHAW, its killing to stay up or having to PVR the HD Shows and cant watch them 3 hours earlier. It would be nice if we can get them before the new year
