toybox, if you still have the problem, I would simply try unplugging and replugging your stb. If that doesn't work then call Shaw.

[QUOTE=Alan Bealby]I checked this morning for any new HD channels and didn't find any. The Channel listings for Kelowna on the Shaw web site didn't show any new HD channels so I called Shaw again. This time the CSR I talked to said that Kelowna isn't going to be getting any more HD channels until September 21st.

Mr. Bealby- did you fine folks in Rocket-ville get the timeshifts?
Curious cause here in the Kootenays no new HD either or timeshifts yet.
Still only 6 HD channels total, maybe if Kelowna gets new channels Sept 21 that is when maybe we can expect something to happen here too.

Sorry. I did have the fact that there were places worse off in the back of my mind but complained anyway. We did get the timeshifts 231-240 okay and the new adult channel shows up in the on-screen listings. I didn't realize that some places didn't get the timershifts. That could be a pain if they don't give you a month free trial when you do get them. The HD channels are supposed to be free until the end of the year which should give some time to assess whether the extra cost ones will be worth it.

As far as actually getting the two HD channel on September 21st, I am not going to hold my breath. Sometimes the CSRs are accurate and sometimes they aren't as the one yesterday wasn't. I'll have to wait and see.

Different start dates for different markets is probably yet another reason shaw is big on using a "Soft-Launch" approach to adding new channels.

According to the CSR I spoke with last night:

"A&E HD will be launching in September 2006, channel 313, and will automatically be made available at that time."

So look forward to King of Cars in HD! ;)

So....
I just called Shaw and spoke to a CSR.

At first she actually didn't know what an HD channel was.

After she put me on hold for a few minutes, she told me that Victoria
would be getting the first 3 channels at the end of September
(just a bit different from the story I heard on Wednesday saying 24-36 hours)

Well, I guess that's what we get for living in a backwater town like the capital of British Columbia.

Welcome to our backwater world, on the bright side, at least you have all those cool politicians to keep you entertained. And no snow.

anybody else seeing this? they've only been "on" for 3+ days...

I asked a Shaw CSR yesterday if the NFLST games would be in HD or only those ones being broadcast on the HD channels.

She told me that I would get the games however they were filmed. So if a game was filmed in HD and put on channel 205 for Sunday ticket that it would be in HD if I had a HD receiver. Anybody know if this is true??

Don't count on it. If that's the case, then maybe that accounts for the increase in NFLST price

discovery, tsn and ctv are also not working for me here in Winnipeg as of 1:10 central time so it appears to be a network wide problem.

The channels are working here, but there is a lot of hiccups. It was OK for a while but got worse. Anyone know whats happening and why it is restricted to Bell Globemedia Channels?

Its very doubtful that the NFLST games on the NFLST channels will be in HD. It could happen but very doubtful. The increase in price is just supply and demand. Go to DirecTV in the US and see how much our friends down south have to pay. $69.99 US per month. It makes $32.49 CAD per month seem like the best bargain in the world.

This is about NFLST on Shaw but it'll take me a while to make my point. Tonight (Sunday, August 27) I watched part of "40 Year Old Virgin" on MC. On the zap2it TV listings, it was listed as HD but was not broadcast on the MCHD channel. Still, the PQ was good--much better than SD. So my question is this: if a particular NFL game is shot in HD but broadcast over a non-HD PPV channel, will it look much better than SD but not as good as true HD? I might settle for that.
