I am in winnipeg and tonight I tried to put on TSN-HD and the screen says " not authorized". All the other HD channels work fine. Is Shaw charging for TSN now? I have not heard anything. Is this happening to anyone else???

It was happening to me in Edmonton, too. I just noticed when I was flicking through, so it's probably a technical issue. I don't really watch sports, but I'd be ticked if I was someone who wanted to watch the hockey game tonight.

The same thing is happening here in Burnaby. Maybe it's going to be a pay channel from now on? I sure hope not!

I'm seeing an windowboxed OTR. (That means it's on here)

It works for me in Vancouver. Which box do you guys have? This could be tied with the VOD rollout problems that seem to be appearing, which mostly seem to be affecting the 6200 boxes.

Mine is a 6200. I will be p*ssed is they are going to charge for it.

i called and its an extra $13.95 for TSN HD...they gave us a free preview and now its over...thats kind of pricey for 1 channel (you get other SD channels but who watches those?)...i was thinking it would be $5 extra or something like that...hopefully once shaw figures out what to charge for HD they will let you 'opt' out of the regular channels but I find this hard to believe...

and it looks like there is an hd canucks game next week...great timing shaw...

As with Rogers, if you don't subscribe to the SD channel, you won't get the HD. With Rogers there's an (ultimate) pack you need to buy for about $20 that includes about 30 channels, then you pay $5 for an "HD pak" that gets you Discovery, TSN and timeshifts...

Some day, there will be a-la-carte selection...

That is total crap. That fully pisses me off. When I was doing research on what HD source I should go with, Bell or Shaw, the Shaw reps all were pushing the fact that their HD was free and that was their key selling feature. That's why I went with them. Now this? Man they really dropped the ball, expect most people to pay 2 times the market value for their HD boxes and then have the nerve to charge an outragous fee, that's just ****ing stupid.
Time to stick it to the man. Everyone call and gripe about this. Know how to open up the cable box outside your house?...

Do you guys get SD TSN because if you subscribe to that you should get TSN HD as well. I will check later on to see if I get TSN HD but if I don't that will really piss me of.

I'm still getting it, so I guess I'm already paying for it. I get the top package with internet and movie channels. The 13.95 then is for the digital channel package which includes TSN HD? Do you still get the analog version free? All other hd channels still "free previewed"? Strange they would pick one channel of the group to begin the road to charging.

Just when I was getting to like Shaw again they pull a stunt like this. It's sort of like riding a rollercoaster; one minute I'm really excited because they add a few more channels and then they say you have to pay $13.95(?) for TSN HD!
Telus HD can't get here soon enough IMO and then maybe, with some competion, Shaw will pull up their socks!:(

The same thing happened to me but the CSR just told me that they jus have to put it on my account and that there would be no extra charge for the channel just that it has to be added to your account.

There is no charge if you subscribe to more than basic cable. I only have basic cable so it's 13 bucks to get TSN HD.
That's the only channel I would want in that secondary package so for my 13 bucks for one channel make no sense at all.

That just doesn't make sense! What a way to run a company!

$13 just to get one HD channel is crazy I think BEV charges $10 for 8 or 10 HD channels.

I just got off the phone with Shaw. They said that they split the channels into two groups and it didn't automatically update some people, 1 minute later my TSN-HD was up and running with no extra charge. With them splitting channels into groups i'm sure extra charges will be coming down the road, but for now it is still all free here in Winnipeg.

I just got off the phone from a very nice Shaw CSR and explained the problem. She did a re-hit and she said that the trouble was caused by a change in codes by TSN. Furthermore, I don't have to pay extra for the channel!
She said that she was going to inform her supervisor of the problem because she was getting a lot of irate calls from Shaw subscribers. I told her I would pass the info along to the members of this forum and she seemed quite pleased with that.
BTW, when she initially re-activated the channel, it came back with a big black square in the centre and the picture was just on the edges so I turned off the set, waited ten seconds and then switched it on and TSN HD was back! I'm a happy camper now!:)

I think you guys are confused. If you have just basic cable you will no longer get TSN HD, that's the bottom line.

but how many people out there only have basic cable with an HD box?
