Not sure if it's my 6412 Phase III cable box or a problem with Shaw's signal.
Channel 27 KCTS constantly seems to have fluttering sound.
Actually, it's more like 20% of the sound drops out. You can really tell if there is music on the station, it will rapidly cut in and out.
I've noticed this about 2 weeks ago and it's still happening tonight, although I don't know if it is happening 100% of the time. I only watch 27 now and then.
Has anyone else experienced this?

it will probably be the station because 27 is analog and when before have you had dropouts of picture and sound from analog channels that have been because of the provider? Now for the HD channels, you get those often because of bandwidth issues.

I'm wondering if it could be my PVR box. We've had some odd things happen on HD that make me wonder if my signal is low or the hard drive is flawed.
Of course, I can't think of any reason why KCTS Channel 27 would be the only analog channel with the fluttering sound problem.
Time to call Shaw I guess.

For the last couple of days PBSHD - Ch.306 has had an issue with the sound cutting in and out every 5-10 seconds while the picture is fine. I just called SHAW as I just picked up my first 6200 2 days ago and wanted to make sure it was not a problem with the box. They are aware of the situation (some sort of outage) and hope to have it back to normal soon. I know that this is not that same as the Ch.27 PBS but thought (uneducated specualtion) it maybe related??

When I tune to Ch 27 on my TV the sound is normal.
Only through the 6412 Phase III is the sound fluttering.
Shaw is going to come and check it out.
My PVR has been doing some odd things, maybe it's simply a defective PVR
afterall. Hope the service tech brings a replacement Phase 3 so I don't need to schedule yet another call.

Here's the reply I got from Shaw when I raised the same issue:

This is a known issue whereby the PVR is amplifying the analog channel
which introduces 'noise' in the picture and sound. You can try splitting
the cable in from the wall outlet so that a co-ax cable goes into the
PVR and one direct to the TV. You can pick up a Shaw splitter at any
Shaw retail store.

Of course that's no help when you want to record KCTS for later viewing.
