Certainly would be great to get TCM in time to catch at least some of the 31 days of Oscar.

Maybe that would have been a good way to ask.. All thru February they're doing the 31 days of Oscar.. any chance we'll be able to watch any of it?

:)

I sincerely doubt we'll have the MPIXHD or TCM by the end of the month. If we do get one or the other, I will let everybody else out of the infamous corner and will stand there all by myself. Hot dogs or not, I'll take the heat.

The only way for me to get TCM would be to have my C-Band receiver reactivated with Starchoice but I don't want them to screw my machine like they did....8 years ago.

Will anybody bring a TV in the corner so we can watch some of the Super Bowl? :o

Dan:

Do you want the Simsubbed Global version or the American version of the Superbowl?

Worth noting that I had a dream that TCM was put up on the Rogers Atlantic system on the basic tier channel 25 and I was shocked by that.

How sad that I'm DREAMING about this channel. Literally.

Yeah kinda :p But I don't think it'll be channel 25, I think it'll be channel 34. Then I think they'll move The Score (SJ&FR) / Life Network (Monc) to channel 43 and add the NB Legislature channel to channel 70 once it launches. But thats all just speculation. No certain facts there. It just seems odd to me that the last time they reshuffled the channels around that they moved channel 43 for no particular reason to a higher channel number and left it blank. Additionally, when they moved SNet to ch22, they had to fill 34 with something so in all three major cities in NB they moved a Basic cable channel into that space to hold the space since 34 fits into a package that's paid extra for where 43 was just a basic channel so leaving a hole there was ok. As for the NB legislature channel it was an actual rogers CSR that told me it would be launching on basic cable ch70. That was in early January. So yeah, my guess is TCM might get added to ch34 since it seems to me that Shaw put it into a standard analog cable package at launch too. (This'll likely put me in the corner too. oh well threes a crowd.)

What I suspect they'll do is place it into the tier with Family Channel because of Linkage Rules and dump Headline News to the digital News package. Rumor has it that TCM is demanding carriage below ch-70 and maybe Rogers wants it into the Movies package. I'm just speculating though.

I dont get this obsesion with TCM, im not that big of a movie person and TMN On Demand/The internet offers more than what i can handle. :D

If it was up to me I would cut all those usless SD channels (come on, who the hell gets DIVA, or the 100 similar channels) except for BBC (becasuse they have top gear, but even then i can get it on the net) and all all the HD channels they can.
Of course the current HD channels should offer/produce more HD programming. buts thats not up to rogers.. oh and I want the commercials to be HD too :)

Lajohn27, I want the American version just for the commercials.

Paf: How old are you? I think the older crowd wants TCM for the older gems cinema has ever produced. If you are not a fan of B/W movies, stay clear of TCM. I like Harry Langdon, Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin and so on. I used to have TCM and AMC on the big dish before it was illegal. The TV had one of these 2 channels on every time I turned it on. So the obsession for that channel, has to be with a true fan of old movies. Teletubbies doesn't cut it for me... ;)

I think they'll add the TCM with the rest of the movies in the 300's. Soon I hope.

Anyone notice that when they rearranged the channels a few months back, channel 43 was left blank? Looks like a great place to put TCM...

Yes, but as i already mentioned above, they will likely move the basic cable channel that was moved to 34 as a space filler to 43 (i.e. back on basic cable) and put TCM in the Cable Plus package on channel 34.

Ref that channel 43, isn't that the place where the NB legislation channel might be going to?

yes, I've considered that possibility as well which could mean that TCM might not even hit standard cable and might go straight to digital ch 311 or something. ch 43 does seem to have been freed up all over the province and since its a basic cable spot it could well be reserved for the Legislative Channel. The CSR i spoke to may just have been saying ch 70 for NBLEG because in some parts of Ontario ch 70 is Ontario's Legislature channel.
Like I said earlier, my numbers are largely speculation based on the previous channel realignment and what types of channels were moved where.

*IF* it appears on the basic tier - I think it will also be duplicated in the 300's.. at least.. that's my theory.
