Sith - I guess this is the same type of situation when they offered you guys out there BET, Gameshow, BBC World, and 3 sportsnets free with your package, some people in other areas were grandfathered and given those channels at 99 cents per month, and any one new was charged the normal pick and pay pricing.

Now I was told they were removing the grandfathered package and it was "system wide" but the further you dig with every shaw issue, you find out, it all depends on your area and the CSR / TSR you talk to at the time.

Sorta. But not really.

They only charge the $1.99 for every extra box past 1. I would be surprised if even 10% of those had more than 1 box.... math is slightly (a lot actually) skewed.

I am an installer for Shaw and sure, lots of people have 1 box... but only one located at their "main" TV. Every other TV is just hooked up to straight cable.

I am new to Shaw and I have just noticed this charge of $1.99.
I have only one TV and only one box, 6412. I see $1.99 on my bill. I am going to complain as they have never mentioned this anywhere prior.

I just did and CSRhas apologized to me for "sales person not mentioning this charge". When i inquired about what the charge is for, she mentioned that it was for access to music channels and VOD (neither of which I use) and when I asked if I would still be charged if I don't want to access those services she said it "unfortunately, yes, yadah, yadah, yadah".
She also went on to promote their TEB as this would include this charge. I beleive that someone above was right when they did the math. $2 x 500,000 x 12 months = $24 000 000 a year of easy money and I think that CRTC should get involved.

I just got off the phone with a CSR, and asked about the $1.99 charge. It was explained to me that you are only charged if you have MORE then 1 digital terminal, and its for maintaining the extra terminal. So anyone having only 1 digital terminal, and being charged the $1.99, should phone and complain.

Not necessarily.....

You will be charged this $1.99 for the box if you do not subscribe to a digital package.

Example if you only have basic cable or Full Cablea and buy a DCT you will be charged $1.99 extra per month for that box because you have access to Music and PPV. If you are on a digital package and only have 1 box and are being charged this separatly on your bill...then go right ahead and complain!

Just wanted to clarify
