Can someone confirm who has the 360 VGA cables hooked up to a HDTV that does not have native 720p (not a PC monitor) that the VGA cable can still output 1080i

Someone over at Teamxbox says the VGA cable won't output to 1080i - only 720p.

here are specs of the cable:

That could be true. Since the VGA cable is designed to output to LCD monitors, but would be disappointing. I've been wanting to get the VGA cable since I got my 360, but haven't been able to find it in stock. I'm kinda waiting for the Madcatz one, since it might be cheaper.

my tv is 768 lines high.... 1080i = 540p. why wouldn't you rather have 760p?

considering that an interlaced imagine is not as good as a non-interlaced one.

if it were 1080p then there might be an advantage but only larger tvs have the higer res.

760p will be fine on my 1366x768 42"

update for anyone considering VGA cables for there 360

I picked up a 360 VGA cable the other day but my HDTV will not go accept anything higher then 848x480 which is essential 480P.

I was hoping it would upconvert the 1280x720 (720p) to 1080i like the component does but it does not.

So are you going to use it with a LCD monitor then? I was going to get the cable, but it doesn't have the optical out for sound, just the left and right RCA connectors so I skipped it. I'll have to get one of the 3rd party VGA connectors I guess.

not sure what I will use them for - maybe a LCD monitor.

by the way the ones I picked up did have a optical out on them.
