Since its going to become an issue in the next year, I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread listing monitors that include HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) .

HDCP will be required when trying to play back Blu-Ray or HD DVD discs on your computer.

The first monitor I'm adding to the is one that I want to buy the Gateway FPD2185WH (http://www.gateway.com/programs/lcd/index.shtml?cmpid=index*HDLCD21W_specs*tab) which is great looking 21" widescreen monitor.

The Samsung 215TW I have has HDCP support, so might as well add that one

I believe this one can be added too: BenQ FP241W 24IN
I did not find HDCP stated in the reviews, but considering it is advertized as having "complete HD support", a bunch of inputs including HDMI, I guess it has to be HDCP compliant.... Just waiting for the firmware updated version of it later in January with 1:1 pixel mapping...

I haven't found any HDTVs/monitors that had HDMI, but were not HDCP compliant. DVI is a "worry" and must say or have HDCP.

Can I connect a Scientific Atlanta 3250HD (Rogers) cable box to Dell's E228WFP monitor? I've tried and it looks like the signal from the box is out of the monitor's range.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

f1racer:

Yes you can connect the SA3250HD STB to the Dell E228WFP. How have you connected it? Via DVI or Component? What do you mean the signal is out of the monitor's range?
If you are using DVI, if you are not getting a picture the monitor may not be HDCP compliant via DVI even though it claims to be. Try using Component (Red, Green, Blue cable) and see if you get a picture.

Cyclism, thanks.

I have connected using DVI. The Dell only has DVI and VGA, no component. Dell has claimed the DVI to be HDCP compliant, which I believe to be true, otherwise I would still get a default picture and the SA3250 would advise that the monitor is not HDCP compliant. I have tried this on a IBM Thinkvision monitor, where it is not DVI HDCP compliant but I would still get an error message from the SA3250. The Dell is not accepting the signal at all, regardless if it is HDCP compliant or not.

Do you have the Dell monitor?

f1racer:

I have the Dell 2407WFP and though it also claims to be HDCP compliant, I was never able to get a picture using DVI from a STB. I had to use Component, which my monitor has.

Read hugh's Post #8 in this thread. What you could be experiencing with your 22" model could be the same issue as with the 24".

However, we are going off-topic on this thread. Please do a search for the particular model you have. This thread is for listing of HDCP Compliant monitors only.

Yes the Samsung 940 BW is HDCP compliant. Check their website. I am watching TV from my Bell 6100 via DVI on it. I have to set the STB to 720P for it to work though. My Dell 1907 also works this way set at 720P. This may help f1racer also.

Thanks Interceptor. That's great help! So they are HDCP compliant but do not accept 1080i, but only 720p/480p?

The SA3250HD STB output is fixed at 1080i, so I am out of luck.

f1racer:

You can change the output of the STB to 720p.
