Just one year after the debut of Firefox 1.0, Mozilla Corp. today released Firefox 1.5, the latest version of its acclaimed open source Web browser. (http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=825&Itemid=60)
I have now downloaded and installed on two machines without incident.Still checking it out.
Battscrew 2005-11-29, 11:45 PM Just installed it myself - we'll see how it goes.
hoju_17 2005-11-30, 09:41 AM I've been using 1.5 RC3, had a couple of issues, hopefully the final version fixed them.
Proteosome 2005-11-30, 10:51 AM Do you need to reinstall extensions?
stampeder 2005-11-30, 12:45 PM It installed beautifully on Linux and automatically adopted my extensions, personal settings, and bookmarks. It was a quick browser before, but now its even faster! :)
Bluecruzer 2005-12-03, 07:01 PM So far so good - WAY faster!
JesseJ 2005-12-04, 02:33 PM No glitches yet...and like everyone has commented, alot faster.
Don't forget to make it even faster!!

(Works great here on 1.5 for Win XP and Ubuntu)
dawziecat 2005-12-08, 01:54 PM It killed the Firefox spellchecker "Spellbound" extension though. :(
Proteosome 2005-12-09, 10:21 AM If you go the spell checker website and try to reinstall it directly it may work.
I had a few extensions that would not auto-update. I just went and reinstalled the exact same version and it miraculously worked.
Some have version protocols built into them however. For example, EbayNegs will not install on 1.5 partly because somewhere in the code it says it is only applicable up to 1.06 or whatever. When FireFox tries to install it, it sees this and assumes it will not work with 1.5.
Firefox 1.5 exploit made public (http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=857&Itemid=51)
Might want to follow instructions to avoid problems.
Enya Nod 2005-12-31, 11:32 AM Is anyone having problems with Firefox 1.5? I am (Rogers) and my brother is (Sympatico). It has trouble finding sites, often coming back with "Timed Out" or "Problem Loading Page" or "Page Not Found." Then, if you try again a couple seconds later it will find it. This didn't happen with 1.07 and it doesn't happen with IE.
Working fine on my machine. Keep the two browsers and see if you experience the same problem at the same time.
denben73 2005-12-31, 02:44 PM My browser opens two tabs to the same address whenever I click a link in my email or from a shortcut on my desktop. This has been happening since version 1.0. Any ideas?
Sure it hasn't been happening since 0.9? It was a bug back then. I think the only fix is to edit the registry. I recommend a google search.
