did you see what they did to make room for these channels? They took out PPV channels 152-160 and 162-165. 13 less PPV channels

PPV Should not matter for cable subscribers as you have Video On Demand Service, really if you have a choice to either.

1) Wait till 8:00 to watch a PPV movie, that cannot be paused OR
2) Watch the same movie at probably same price and have it for 24 hours and rewind/fastforward/pause

I would choose Number 2

PPV is still good to have the first 10 channels available to watch featured movies that are from the viewers choice company which has differing aggrements with different movie companies than Shaw. But honestly I would rather only have 5 PPV channels and make room for Time Shifts and HD.

Shawguy Ya I'm guessing so because we still need to get Showcase HD, A&E HD and National Geographic HD and I thought we were supposed to get that HD Net Channel too.

Showcase HD:p Soon I should be able to watch the Trailer Park Boys in true high definition.

I took a look at my guide and I still have PPV channels 152-160 and 162-165. But what I did notice is that PPV channels 186-191 are no longer there.

Thank god! I live in Calgary and was pleasantly surprised by the new channels this morning. Now I have no reason to switch back to ExpressVu. NTV, besides the weird commercial breaks as music video thing, is the best shifted channel available and all the other channels are a great bonus. As someone pointed out, Shaw on Demand is really the equivalent service anyway as PPV, so really the loss of those PPV channels will have no effect on service. This is something Shaw should have done a long time ago, but better late than never.

Now if only Shaw would reorganize their guide to group by networks, movies, science and nature, sports, etc. like Bell I would a lot less confused where things are on the guide.

National Geographic HD
Showcase HD
A&E HD

Bell does not have these, does this mean, Shaw is a more competitive choice when it comes to HD Fanatics.

They added the very popular DISCOVERY HD, and TSN HD - It would be very cool to watch Discovery / National Geographic programs in HD

Also anyone know if these stations will be added to its co-owed Star Choice??

Or at least put them in some logical order. Right now there are some time shifts in the 131 to 135 range, then a few other channels, then PPV, then the adult stuff and then finally more timeshifts.

I'm not sure what the logistics are but couldn't Shaw at least group all the timeshifts together?

My guess would be they just needed to put them somewhere for now.

Also remembed that in some markets 136-138 are Fairchild East, Alpha Punjabi, and B4U, Also I believe in Vancouver most of the upper 120's are used for other channels also, so 230-240 was empty in all markets right now so that's where they put them.

I think we all agree Shaw needs to do some moving around of the channels, and I think we will probably see that in 2007 but that does take alot of planning and remember change is hard to embrace for alot of people, so the public education is costly, but in good time, things will come.

Note: I have no facts to confirm or deny the 2007 theory, just my opinion :)

Shawguy

P.S. The PPV Channels are back, must have been when they were moving around channels but they put them back after, and yes 186 and up for PPV is gone now. lol

it says "Shaw Expands Digital Television Lineup with New Packages and Channels
As part of our ever-expanding, always entertaining channel lineup, Shaw is pleased to announce the following additions to our Digital TV lineup:"

and no price so is it possable they could now include it in the monthly price.

I have a brother who works for Shaw, since Time Shift is new, your getting a free preview until Sept. 27th and since price is not an issue until sept. 27 there will be no price set (if any set) until that time. Shaw probably will make it free if you have a digital receiver. We can hope for that.

There keeping it hushed for now, but most likely, for your bundle packages:

http://www.shaw.ca/en-ca/ProductsServices/BundlesAndPricing/BundlePricing.htm

eg. Total Entertainment Bundle

Those type where you get your, US superstation, PPV, music, movies, the word is the timeshift will be incorporated into the packages at no cost, If you your just a Full Cable Suscriber with some theme packs, they are going to stay competive with there arch rivals MTS, and probably price it at $1.99 - $2.99 - but then the other side to the story is, since Star Choice customers get all those timeshifts accrose the country in there basic pack, and since the, they easily got those timeshifts off cancom, and then incorported them in, not a big cost, as your not doing uplinks all over, it could be free if you own a Shaw Digital Receiver, such as HD is free. Most likely though, so Shaw has the competive edge, it will be free.

I doubt that Shaw will make it free if you have a digital converter since you HAVE to have a digital converter to get them. By that logic all digital channels would be free. If only...

As previously stated, Shaw has said that timeshifts will be $3.95 per month.

yeah they said the same thing about shaw secure anti virus and then a month later they included it in the price. so i emailed eservice-wpg@shaw.ca and I will see what they say. Because if it was free till september 27 im sure it would say it on there website. and it says nothing like that. So we can only hope it will be free. thanks.
