: XM Canada Programming Details
kramerica 2005-11-10, 02:17 PM It seems XM Canada is doing something right. O & A will be available to Canadians when XM Canada Launches. This morning O & A had Eric Logan on (ELO) and he stated directly that Opie and Anthony will be on in Canada. He was reading off the XM Canada line-up. He did not provide details on any of the other channels, but he stated 100% that Opie and Anthony would be part of the XM Canada line-up. He promised O & A bigger audience than Howard and they will get it. Finally a Canadian company does something right.

chuckleguts 2005-11-16, 10:17 AM Looks like they have everything I want included in the lineup. Now what incentive are they going to offer me to switch over my grey account? Dicounted sub or a couple free months will do.
chuckleguts 2005-11-16, 10:17 AM On another unrelated note, Calgary repeater still not turned on.
Is this the full line-up? Very disappointing. Except for Fox Sports, MLB Home Plate, and Hockey they dropped all the other sports channels. Where's ESPNews and ESPN Radio? No MLB Play-By-Play Channels??? Without it, I'm not getting Sat Radio.
Kieran 2005-11-16, 01:02 PM I am fine with the line up since it contains all the channels I listen to :D
xmottawa 2005-11-16, 01:09 PM What:confused:
No Radio Disney!!!;)
becks 2005-11-16, 01:30 PM Is this the full line-up? Very disappointing. Except for Fox Sports, MLB Home Plate, and Hockey they dropped all the other sports channels. Where's ESPNews and ESPN Radio? No MLB Play-By-Play Channels??? Without it, I'm not getting Sat Radio.
ESPN won't be on the Cdn service as they don't have the rights to air it.
lilpuddin 2005-11-16, 01:36 PM On another unrelated note, Calgary repeater still not turned on.
I got the sense the other repeaters were up and down, so you had to catch it. Also, I suspect repeaters that potentially conflict with US border repeaters were an issue that they are going to deal with early. I would be more concerned about the list of repeaters (http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26357) posted by Kieran which had only one repeater for Calgary, and nothing for highway 1 into BC. Why put repeaters on highway 2? The satellite coverage is excellent there, it is in the mountains and areas with trees that are a problem.
Can't be ESPN not having the rights in canada as Sirius Canada will carry them.
Waverider 2005-11-17, 01:32 AM Is this the full line-up? Very disappointing. Except for Fox Sports, MLB Home Plate, and Hockey they dropped all the other sports channels. Where's ESPNews and ESPN Radio? No MLB Play-By-Play Channels??? Without it, I'm not getting Sat Radio.
Likewise - where's the incentive? Typical Canadian nonsense....I wanted satellite radio for the sports channels and the talk channels, and there is next to nothing offered. Yes, there is hockey, but that's it! Where are the MLB Play-By-Play Channels? Where is ESPN Radio? Where is the PGA channel? Where is Sporting News Radio? Where are the Canadian talk channels? No ABC News, no MSNBC, no Bloomberg, no US talk stations....sure there are lots of music channels, but the news/talk/sports selection is absolute garbage.
As someone who was going to buy a system, I'm questioning why I would now - none of the channels I want are available.
I agree. I am not a fan of O&A and I am Sirius supporter....but I will admit that XM Canada is making some great business moves while Sirius Canada isn't making any waves at all.
I am happy for fans of O&A that they can get their show. I can only feel sorry for Howard Fans in Canada. Go Grey my friends. Go Grey.
Kieran 2005-11-17, 02:58 PM The new Canadian XM 52 "Unsigned" is a GREAT channel. I have been listening to it all day on my MYFi...it has already been added to my top ten presets

You're gaonna have to change your signature... ;) Seriously, what are they playing? (my XM2Go is with the wife in the car in another province :( )
I thought the Canadian service was to carry all the US music streams. Conspicuously missing are a Christian channel, a couple urban ones, some latin ones including latin jazz on Luna, and VOX, "Where classical music has finally found its voice".
HornHonker 2005-11-18, 07:35 PM Yes, classical music lovers get the shaft again.
Yes, classical music lovers get the shaft again.
Maybe not, I've Emailed VOX's stream director and he has assured me that those omissions were informational glitches (to which he has "raised a stink") and that all the XM music streams are available within the Canadian service. Whomever subscribes to CSR, please post the answer here.
superdave 2005-11-24, 09:52 AM "By condition of licence, the licensee must provide a minimum of eight original Canadian-produced channels at the beginning of operations, and may distribute, to any Canadian subscriber, a maximum of nine non-Canadian-produced channels for each original Canadian-produced channel that it distributes. A minimum of 85% of the musical selections broadcast on all Canadian-produced channels, considered together, must be Canadian selections."
http://www.crtc.gc.ca/archive/ENG/Decisions/2005/db2005-246.htm
I take this to mean that they need to start more Canadian produced channels before they can rebroadcast more US channels.

737 - I have the sirius grey area subscription and the only reason I might consider going xm in the future would be for mlb. Do you not think that when hockey season is over those channels could be used for baseball?? Or have you heard otherwise.
