Their FCC listing shows that they're on channel 15 in digital with a tiny little pea shooter power level:

http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/tvq?list=0&facid=55362

I'll just check the post-transitional document to see where they'll end up.

Well, I phoned KVRR today and talked to the girl who answers the phones, she says that the pembina tower is probably gonna stay analog til the June cutover as they didn't get approval from the FCC yet to go ahead with switching it over and all that. But that they'll start advertising what channel it will be on when they do, so its still up in the air as to when it will switch exactly and what channel it will be on. So whether it goes to 12 for digital or stays on 15 but on a higher power, she didn't know. I'm pretty sure it will probably go to 12 though. I think I read in most places that thats the goal. But its still analog.

Hi All,

I have an antenna on the way. It's one of these ebay ones with a rotor.
Once I get it and install it I will report.

Does anyone know if PBS has a high power transmiter yet in ND or MN, if so have a link to FCC info?

Thanks, Joe

I am new to the forum, only having registered now after reading an article in the Winnipeg Free Press. We have a second home/country get away in a small town 50 miles NW of Brandon, Mb and would like to establish a range of TV reception using OTA technology rather than pay monthly cable costs. Before doing any more research on equipment requirements, etc., I was wondering if anyone can tell what digital feeds may be picked up with a roof top digital antenna in the area noted.

Thanks for whatver information anyone can provide.

Hi hamiota and welcome here - unfortunately at this time DTV stations in rural Manitoba are non-existent, although analogue OTA stations continue to broadcast. Please read through these links to find out how to get the info you require:

Nothing that I believe can be picked up in Winnipeg. Which is a shame, as they do get a lot of support from Winnipeg.

Are you seing anything on the KNRR analog transmission warning of the switch to digital on June 12? I hope they stay on 12, that'll be at least one channel we can get in Winnipeg. Albeit, Fox.

Get any Antenna from TheSource, Zellers Stores and so on and get TV for $0:

(In Manitoba)

CBC-french Channel 3
CBC-english Channel 5 or 6
CTV Channel 4 or 7
GlobalTV Channel 9
Fox TV Channel 12
CityTV Channel 13

You might need a Static type of antenna or a Roof version to get better reception.

Hi there I to saw the artical in the paper and was woundering. I live in the interlake region and have an anolog tower in the back get channels 6,7&9 but would like to improve on the signal. ch.6 cbc is very snowy on surprisinly clear days. I am new to this and don't quit get it yet. But I thought a digital signal would be stronger then an anolog one if I get set up for a digital signal would I get better and more stations? Thanks for your time.:)

Hi Bruce126, we aren't sure when Digital TV will become available in Manitoba. Unfortunately that article mistakenly said that there are digital stations there. In the mean time you might want to check all the cabling on your antenna and replace it with RG-6 if its old or worn out. If you still have trouble with CBC reception then you should add a VHF preamplifier right up at the antenna if yours doesn't already have one.

From Selkirk have you ever received the Fox station in Pembina, North Dakota?

Is a preamplifier the same as an in line amp. I have one and it's from 47-2400 MHz 14-20 dB would this work?

stampeder

Yes that's a good thing to have, and is it close to the antenna though? A preamp needs to be right up at the antenna but an inline amp like yours should be mounted somewhere right near the antenna if possible.

Thanks for your time I just tryed it and i got no picture what so ever I think maybe that that MHz is for satilite???

The lower number of 47MHz means that it will amplify OTA signals too, but it might not be suitable for other electronic reasons, especially if it either has or allows satellite LNB switching.

A proper CATV/FM/VHF/UHF signal amplifier that outputs 10 or 12dB of boost is probably worth a try, and you can get them fairly cheaply at lots of stores.

Bruce,

Does it have a separate power supply with it, or is it just a standalone inline amp. The standalone ones are for sat only, as the sat receiver sends the power up the line to power the amp. An OTA amp requires a power supply at the bottom end, to send power up the line to the amp.

It's a standalone one but I know what your talking about I saw it at the store the other day. Does this mater if it is right by the T.V?
