CTV went to snow, around mid-morning. Still waiting for the digital channel to come through

I just tried CKY channel 7 on an old CRT with rabbit ears and I'm getting analog.

hmm, maybe, they reduced their signal then. Nothing is being picked up here, either analog or digital. And the site, that was linked on ctv's website, says it's supposed to be before Aug 31st. Here's where I found that info.

Haybomber... do you have a 1 bay GH? how is it mounted? What are you using for reflectors?
I just built a SH289 with a cm7777 preamp aprox 15 ft above ground...and i can get
all the wpg analogs (3,6,35 are very snowy at times) plus 8 and 12 digital from the
US. I even got a brief lock on 38 and 44 digital from Fargo,ND one morning.I am getting
9 digital from wpg at times..mostly at night.

Yup, single bay GH. Nothing as elaborate as the ones some guys build that could survive hurricane Irene:)I just heat pressed a 3/4 of a length of 6" pvc and just screwed it to that. Used a Ubolt to mount it to the dish that was already on the roof of the suites that we are in.I just used 2" copper pipe for the reflectors. I pick up 35Joy 80% of the time perfectly clear, and 9.1CKND about 60% of the time. It is a great antenna. Channel 8.1 I would get very rarely; I had constructed a yagi specific to that channel, but it is very unreliable. I did a scan once and it paused on 38 and 44, as well as 10. I just need a good tall tower, but location isn't in my favor:S

I'm in Sanford (see attached TV Fool Report)

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3d9e745cc2191578

I'm using a CS5 pointed at KNRR (DTV 12). This gets me:
Analog 3
Analog 6
Analog 7
Analog 9
Analog 13
Analog 35
Digital 12
Digital 40

Analog channels are a little fuzzy (but no snow) and digital channels are just over 50% strength. 12 (KNRR) is pretty stable but 40 is intermittent most times. My TV shows signal strength bouncing between ~50% and 0. Sometimes the TV just pauses and sometimes it goes blank and sometimes I get a solid "no signal".

There is some nasty source of noise in my area -- cell phone reception sucks, car radios break up when we get close to home. I'm wondering if this is always going to be a problem with TV reception here. Anyone from this area know what this is?

On the other hand, maybe I just need to point the CS5 in a better direction? I'm going to experiment more after the analog signals disappear.

Haybomber... are you using a amp or preamp? CKY 7.1 is coming in strong this morning at 75% signal strength.9.1 is still a hit and miss thing, I will try a tempory GH in the next
few days.

I just rescanned my tv's after noticing that CTV was gone again. CTV HD came in beautifully. 2 channels digital & still 4 analog.

Signal from 7.1 is 99% here, nice audio and of course excellent quality picture. Nice to watch Canada AM in HD. CHMI and CIIT are next, will have to check later this evening. Will be interested in a signal report from Haybomber and a comparison to the analog signal if possible. Should be good and strong.

Attic mounted SBGH made from 14-gauge wire thumbtacked to a piece of plywood, no reflector of any sort.

Global coming in averaging 50% signal strength. :)
Now CTV/CKY in at 90+%. :D

Really curious about how the weaker signals are going to be. Need to get started on my "real" SBGH-6!

as of right now, we're unable to pick up 13, CityTV. We might have to move our antenna a bit more towards the north. My mother in law's tv picked it up with no problems.

Hey builder112, where do you have your CS5 mounted? Is it on your roof or in your attic?

When I get my antenna (and DTV Tuner for my "HD Ready" LCD), I'll let you know what kind of results I get.

I'm getting CTV in Regina since this morning, 92% signal strength according to the TV...looks great! Can't wait for CBC to throw the switch.
