If you post a thread asking how to hook up Bell or Dish to your FTA receiver or how to get subscription based channels on FTA equipment, you will be banned immediately.

Do the dish companies even care we're talking about it here?

I'm doing this with tongue in cheek...

No, I don't care if you talk about how to steal stuff from me because I take the appropriate precautions to make sure that whatever you try won't work.

Well Bunkhouse:

Maybe I should have rephrased it then. How about...

Do officials from Dish or DirecTV come here? I read the Dish reps go on DBStalk.

Maybe Hugh should go over and find out how to get them over here? I have a few questions for them.

I honestly dought any dish/direct reps come here. If you want a place to talk about Dish/Direct then look elsewhere there are many other sites. This is still a gray area and hugh decided that he doesn't want any part of it, especially now with illegal use of FTA for dish in the mix. If you are using FTA solely with dishnet, then your truely missing out on the hundreds of quality FTA channels out there.

Why do we need dish reps over here? We are a canadien site, If anything i'd rather see Expressvu/Starchoice reps here.

"...decided that he doesn't want any part of it..."

After I saw about the fourth "FTA" newbie pirate posting a not-so-innocent question in our Pure As The Driven Snow "true FTA" forum, I posted a suggestion that The Huge update the description to highlight the difference between FTA and FTA.

The Huge decided to post a sticky instead - fine, whatever. Perhaps The Huge was planning to do it anyway, or perhaps he had other suggestions as well. Anyway, it's all my fault if you don't like it. If you like it, then credit The Huge.

The purpose is just to save everyone's time, including the newbie pirates.

Jeffy,

First, the name is Hugh and if you think it's funny to disparage someone's name (be it myself or any other member on this forum) then I recommend you find another forum to frequent.

Second, this forum has been dead set against piracy since its inception. In 2002, many "satellite" forums were well over 20,000 members because they advocated and/or condoned piracy.

If you had read any of my posts over the last few years, instead of shooting your mouth off, you'd know that I like to give people the benefit of the doubt before accusing them of piracy.

You'd also know that I've banned a lot of people for it.

What's new is that the term 'FTA' has a new (very, very recent - autumn 2005) meaning. I don't agree with it, but these days it seems that more people know about FTA-the-bad than FTA-the-good.

I simply suggested that you might want to adapt to the new reality by updating the description of the FTA forum. You decided that a sticky was the way to go. Fine - whatever. You'll know if it works by a reduction in the number of newbies posting obviously-Dish related questions.

And I wouldn't accuse anyone of piracy unless it was blatently obvious (which in the only case that you must be thinking of, it was... so???).

As far as 'disparaging' and 'shooting off' - it's obvious that you and I are at the opposite ends of the 'having_a_sense_of_humour' spectrum. For that I'm sorry - it must be terrible...

There is a significant difference between humour and mocking someone's name. It's hardly being on different ends of the humour spectrum, rather its about treating people with courtesy.

The subject of satellite signal THEFT has been debated many times before. We will not continue that discussion in this thread. Posts deleted.
