: my 6200/2005 seems to have died

It has been working fine, but yesterday it shut off and on 5 times over the course of an hour. When it came back on the last time it went into hunt mode scanning Fr1-10. I've tried the reset on it and I can get it to 'n dl', but when I hit select it just hunts from fr1-10 twice and then goes back to 'n dl'. The power button does nothing nor does the remote. The only way to power it down is to unplug it. But when you plug it back in, it just hunts again. I've tried it with coax connected and unconnected. Let it sit overnight and come back and it's doing the same thing, it never shuts itself off. Does anyone have any ideas? I've spoken with Shaw (who can't connect to it) and they have a service call setup for next week. If I have to buy another one, is there a big difference between a 6200/1000 and a 6200/2005?

thanks

why would you have to buy another one? shaw will just swap it out...

shaw just came in the other day and swapped my 5100 for a 6200. not really sure about the different 6200's, but it did come with the new pvr-style remote. sd pq is worse than my 5100...

Faster processor, I believe. Strange about the SD PQ, though. I also don't think anybody really knows the difference between a 2000 & a 2005 version except Moto, & he ain't sayin'. Of course, I've been known to be wrong. ;)

Shaw will swap it, unless you got it on ebay

Shaw doesn't have anything /2005. I think it's a commuication frequency. It might be very well from Comcast. But that doesn't mean /2005 won't work with Shaw. I am still in the process of making it work. please refer to the topic Strange problem: 6412 will not communicate with Shaw

yeah my /2005 worked fine with shaw, until it cratered. They had no problems though hooking it up and communicating with it - they all use the same frequency...

Hi davey,
may i ask you your trouble ticket # for the 6200/2005? or any relate information that I could refer to your box that 6200/2005 indeed work with Shaw? I am having a hard time convincing Shaw that 6200/2005 works. They kept saying it doesn't work. -_- again, you could see my post in the 6412 communication problem thread.

Cheers

i really want to know this as well. can anyone confirm that 6200/2005 or 6208/2005 works with shaw? we have seen 6412/2005 that worked with Shaw.. but not everyone is so luck for some strange reason.

The number after the '/' is of no importance. I've read so many posts where a Shaw CSR told someone you can only use a '/2000' but not a '/2005' or vice versa - it's all a bunch a poo poo. I've had a 6412/2000 and it worked fine, I also had a 6412/2305 which was fine, and currently I have a 6412/2005 which, again, works just fine.

But HOW did you make them work with Shaw? Anything special you did?

The 2000 and 2005 where Shaw models so there was nothing special I needed to do. The 2305 was a Comcast and I just read up on activating non-Shaw boxes and it worked. Do some research on this forum and others and you'll point yourself in the right direction :)

strangely, not all shaw tech tried to help with non-shaw boxes. the usual response is "it's not compatible because it's not 6412/2000, or 6200/1000." really.. that's what they said.. bullshit or not. I have not been able to active my 6200/2005 since they said it's not supported by shaw. (the /2005 that is)

Did you ever get this working with Shaw? If so what was your problem ticket #?
