Boodaddy 2005-11-28, 07:08 AM Hey, new to the forums... im going to have to complain about this HD feed from Eastlink, as the past couple days Ive watched or recorded some shows that are practically "locking up" and are unwatchable. Any word if this will be fixed, or the source corrected? Im really thinking I have to record some shows on the regular channels rather than the great HD channels, because I dont want to find out its unwatchable when I go to watch it...argh
Welcome hdfred. What shows did you have problems with? If you are watching live, try the 15 sec skip back and keep watching. Sometimes that will help.
Batman 2005-11-28, 09:53 PM Eastlunk was testing the new HD feeds on Friday night (25th). They got a couple in tonight as well (CBC HD and CTV HD) on 609 and 610. All the new channels will beup by xmas (including TSN HC before the World Jnrs start).

Yeah I noticed the 2 new channels after I got off the phone for an Eastlink HDTV survey.
smallmj 2005-11-29, 07:55 AM I noticed that 609 and 610 were there last night. They are sent in the clear at least for now, so I can hear the audio on my DCT-2000. Its a shame that it didn't come a day earlier so that those HD capable CFL fans could watch the Grey Cup on HECBC 609.

hdfred 2005-11-29, 08:45 AM Good to see some new channels!
I do have a question about CBC HD and TSN HD... Is, for example, hockey night in canada broadcast in 16:9 format like the NFL and MLB HD games are? Or is HNIC (early game says HD, late game does not) just a HD channel with the 4:3 ratio in better quality.
Same with TSN HD... when they broadcast a game in HD, is it filmed in 16:9? Im anxious to watch some hockey in that format, seeing how great football and baseball is in particular.
marty-man 2005-11-29, 09:41 AM Did anybody else have a call from someone doing a survey for Eastlink on the HD service? Sounds like they are thinking of charging 6.95 for the existing HD channels, and they asked if I'd be willing to pay an extra 2.95 to have the timeshifting US channels in HD too. Also asked if I thought it was reasonable for BEV to charge 10.00.mth for their HD package. They neglected to mention that BEV offers 24 HD channels. They also asked if I was satisfied with the audio on the HD channels, and what problems I may have. I let them have it over the audio drops etc.. If they are going to insist on charging extra for the HD channels, they better let me include it my theme pak choices.

TSN HD is supposed to be the next one turned on.

No survey here! I also think BEV are up to 30 HD channels. I wouldn't mind paying for what they( BEV) have. I would just drop the other time shift pacakge.

Yes, within a couple of weeks. Discovery will start in the new year. The west feeds are still not scheduled.
smallmj 2005-12-02, 08:55 AM Does anyone know what other SD channels Eastlink will add? (TCM?). Any timetable on those ones? I know you folks are all drooling over extra HD stuff, but with my 20" screen, it doesn't interest me so much.
Of course, if someone wants to buy me a nice big new tv, I'll start drooling over new HD offerings too.

Philip,
Like you, I am new to the forums as well.
In answer to your second question, I was speaking with an Eastlink tech on the weekend and they have a tenative date of December 14th to launch "Video on Demand". They are currently waiting for some equipment so this date can change (and probably will).
As to HDTV, the tech said TSN-HD and Discovery HD are still to be added. TSN-HD is expected to be in before the World Juniors start in Vancouver. Discovery-HD probabaly not until the new year. There are other HD channels planned but he didn't know the channels or timelines.

The tech said to start, they will be offering TMN. Beyond that, he wasn't sure.

Phillip 2005-12-13, 10:05 AM Any new updates this week on the VOD service ?
Batman 2005-12-14, 12:32 AM Sounds like there may be some issues getting TSNHD online soon. :(
And centre ice is definitely not going to happen this season but should next year.
camster 2005-12-19, 03:05 PM I would think that Eastlink sending a message out today saying that we have two new HD channels(CBC and CTV) doesn't bode well for TSN HD before the World Juniors. You would have thought they would have waited otherwise.
