robbie 2005-11-21, 09:26 PM Yes, they are switching. The Boston feeds and Seattle ABC are not available on Star Choice. cgyclaytonmagnet is right on target with Expressvu supplying the feed.
I would love to see Eastlink add Center Ice!

Yes it's Bell. Was supposed to be Rogers, but it dragged on forever not getting done. Centre Ice may be coming from either Rogers or Bell.
bigoranget 2005-11-21, 10:52 PM Trust me, you do not want your HD feeds supplied by Bell Expressvu. If thats the case, you will be getting simsubs via Toronto and Vancouver all the time because Bell simsubs at the uplink and thus even cable companies that source their signal will get the simsubs as well.

Are there any other cable companies getting their feeds via Expressvu?
bigoranget 2005-11-22, 04:05 PM None that I am aware of. Most have a fiber link that is funded by Rogers/Cogeco/Videotron and other smaller cable systems or they have CANCOM feeds.

I thought it was interesting that Bell would supply the feeds when Aliant TV doesn't have HDTV and Eastlink and Aliant are in competition for the local phone market. Perhaps the feeds are coming from elsewhere?
bigoranget 2005-11-22, 06:50 PM At the present time Eastlink has CANCOM feeds. The best solution right now is to just stick with CANCOM until they are able to link up to Rogers in New Brunswick. I think Eastlink would be doing a diservice to their customers if they go with Bell to supply the HD feeds (The US Nets anway).
ProfX 2005-11-22, 09:12 PM I don't care who the supplier is... I just want my HDTV signal to come in clear & strong without breakups in picture & sound. As it stands now, Eastlink's supplier is crap. I hate watching something & having so many drops that I switch to the regular channel so I can see or hear it. Even worse is finding a recording which is f'd up & having to download the show as a torrent.
It appears to me ridiculous that the selling point of HDTV (picture & sound) is literally the most unreliable part(s) of the signal.
bigoranget 2005-11-22, 10:40 PM Was most of your problems with NBC Detroit? CANCOM has switch to NBC Buffalo, so most of the drop outs should be gone now.
ProfX 2005-11-23, 08:24 AM I have drop out problems with all of the HD channels.
John Smith 2005-11-23, 10:18 AM NBC Detroit was by far the worst...I only watch a couple of shows, and more often then not, i'd just go online and grab the torrent as it was better quality. Honestly though, now that I know they're launching a 24/7 HD channel, I want my Discovery!
BigJay 2005-11-23, 01:51 PM All the HD channels drop on me, but I think Fox is the worst. I counted over 30 drop outs during Family Guy this past Sunday night.
bigoranget 2005-11-23, 02:09 PM I would say that this is an eastlink issue. I have StarChoice (Which has the exact same feeds) and I have absolutely no problems with Fox Detroit.
mike2060 2005-11-23, 02:27 PM I tape Jay Leno in HD everynight and a couple nights in a row the audio drop out was so bad there was basically no audio.

I have Eastlink and have drop outs but never 30 in 30 min.
John Smith 2005-11-23, 03:08 PM Same, Fox is usually pretty dependable, as are ABC and CBS.
johnny_boy 2005-11-23, 08:07 PM I sent an e mail to Eastlink a couple days ago to find out about the status of these new channels... and I kid you not, as this is what was said by the Eastlink rep:
"The new channels will be launched in the fall."
Then she laughed a bit and said "We're trying for the next couple of weeks."
and that was that... But they've been trying for the next couple weeks for the last couple of months. I have no idea, I'm getting angry though.
Batman 2005-11-24, 07:02 PM I would love to see Eastlink add Center Ice!
Apparently they are now waffling on CI. Don't think people will sign up mid-season.
Batman 2005-11-24, 07:15 PM I thought it was interesting that Bell would supply the feeds when Aliant TV doesn't have HDTV and Eastlink and Aliant are in competition for the local phone market. Perhaps the feeds are coming from elsewhere?
Nope. It's Bell. Bell doesn't care who they sell it to. Everyone's money is good to their bottom line.
hdfred 2005-11-27, 08:08 PM Hey, new to the forums... im going to have to complain about this HD feed from Eastlink, as the past couple days Ive watched or recorded some shows that are practically "locking up" and are unwatchable. Any word if this will be fixed, or the source corrected? Im really thinking I have to record some shows on the regular channels rather than the great HD channels, because I dont want to find out its unwatchable when I go to watch it...argh
