Over the past few weeks my TV has developed 2 greenish spots that are only truly visable on darkened screens.
TV is within warranty (9 months old) and I will call Sony shortly but am curious if anyone else have/has experencied this before and what they could possibly be.
Thanks.
I've been reading the A10 (GWV) forums over at AVS and there are quite a few people who are complaining about blotches on their screen. Turns out Sony may have some QA issues with dust getting in between the LCD panels. Recently, someone had a technician come over, who took out the unit with the LCD panels, and blew some compressed air into it thereby blowing out the dust. Worked like a charm and the guy's TV doesn't have any blotches anymore.
Not sure if this is the case with your TV, but I think a service call is definitely in order.
Good Luck!

Yes I've also read that dust could cause this problem so I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is indeed the problem and not related to the circuits or engine.

I have the same problem and have scheduled a service call. I'll report back upon completion of this service call.

Well the Sony technician dropped by tonight and removed the optic and circuit block of the TV and carefully used the air can to blow out the dust particles and now everything is back to normal.
Guess I'll be getting the extended Sony Care warranty just in case anything else happens.

I have the same problem. A green spot the size of a quarter right in the middle of the screen. I had a sony tech come over. I was told they will need to take my tv for 3 -5 days and carefully clean it in a sealed room.

Now I've got the same problem. After 8 months of solid use. Doug, any updates to your story? Did you get it back in the estimated time with the blotch gone?
I live in Vancouver Area and had the Sony technician out last week re one green spot about the size of a quarter in the top corner of my screen. He came back yesterday with a $1500.00 part. He was here for an hour and everything is now back to normal. He said he would not blow out the dust as it would just come back. The part was an "optical block", whatever that is. I had extended my warranty past the first year, looks like it was worth it now.

The tech gave it a quick shot with some compressed air and the spot is gone. If it happens again, I'll be calling again. Must cost Sony a couple of hundred every time - doesn't bother me because I have a 5yr warrenty.

The tech tried to blow the dust particle out this past Friday. Now I have a big red blotch on the screen. He has to order the new part from Kansas. So much for the compressed air trick. I hope to have my tv fixed by wednesday. This is very annoying.
Well after 23 problem free months our Sony KF50WE610 has suddenly developed a greenish spot near the top left hand corner which I gather is possibly caused by dust. Will be contacting Sony and the extended warranty that I opted for at the time of purchase will come in handy after all.
